I am hoping to get married at Sunset Pointe on 2-22-12. Does anyone know of anyway to have more than 8 people at that location?
My fiance and I want a small wedding which is part of the reason we decided to do a Disney wedding. Now that we have finally set a date I have all these people that want to come. The total would still be less than 20 people but I have no interest in getting married at any of the other Escape wedding locations. I would even upgrade to a Wishes wedding so I could have the extra people and get married at Sunset Pointe. I don't think that is an option and I don't think there is way to have more than 8 people but I figured if anyone would know they would be on the DIS.
Thanks for listening to me whine. This wedding planning thing is about ready to send me over the edge and I still have 10 months to go!

Supposedly the reason you can't have more than 10 people total at Sunset Pointe is the terrain is too hilly and they won't all fit, so it seems like even if you did a Wishes event you'd have the restriction. Then again, every once in a while someone posts here that they saw a wedding out there and they're sure they counted more than 10 people. :teeth: It might be worth talking to your sales consultant to see if they would bend the rules for a Wishes event.

One thing you could do is to plan a meal at a restaurant afterward and tell people that while Disney limits the capacity at the wedding, they're welcome to come to the reception.

But if you really do just want a small wedding, it's easy enough to use Disney's rule as a way to limit the guest list. :thumbsup2

Thanks for the response. That is what I figured the answer was.
I know if I have a dessert party or catered reception that bumps the minimum up to $7500? If I do something the night before will that be included in the total and I am assuming I could have more than the 8 guest at these events.

In order to count toward the $7,500 minimum, you would have to do the event on the same day as your ceremony. You can have up to the maximum guest count for an Escape wedding at the event, though, so that might be a good solution if people don't mind coming all the way to FL and only getting to go to a dessert party/lunch reception/whatever. :thumbsup2
