Questions about summer months

DH and I are planning on another family trip to the Land of Disney next summer for our 10th anniversary. DH has been balking at going in August since I brought it up. I told him we could swim or just relax in the room during the hottest part of the day, but he's still not convinced.

Are there any weeks in June that are possibly less packed than others and when the weather may not be as hot as August? I do understand that anytime in June(or any of the summer months) will be busier than the 1st week of March, but looking for a time that we won't have to wait 1+ hours in line for most rides.

I haven't been in June in a while, but I would probably avoid the week before the SoCal AP summer blockout goes into effect (Jun 26). My guess is that SoCal AP holders will want to make one last trip to the parks (maybe to the see the 60th anniversary entertainment and offerings) one last time until mid-August when the blockout ends.

• First two weeks of June are your best bet as many schools do not let out until mid June.

We go every year in August, from Portland, OR. So 90 is a killer for us. We have only had one really bad year, where it was muggy as well as really hot. But for the most part no real problem. We hit the park at opening, stay until about 1 or 2 and then hit the hotel for pool time, then dinner and back to the park for the evening, perfect temp time. It is no where near as hot as Hollywood, or six flags area.

June may or may not be better than August. Early June is usually cooler, but once we went the first week in June and were met with 100 degree temperatures. So, you really don't know. Heck, it was blazing hot this weekend even.

Anyway, after surviving Disneyland yesterday with 96 degree temperatures, I can honestly say August probably won't be terrible (we've got a trip scheduled then, too). If you go for rope drop, it will be relatively comfortable until about 11 or 12. We stayed cool with water and Dole Whips. At 12 we hopped over to DCA and used the puddle park area of Bugs Land, then continued rides until about 2PM. At 2 it was horrible, but I think we could have kept going if we didn't need to be home since we had school and work today. So, I'd say if you go back to your hotel from about 2-4, you'd probably be fine. Then, come back at night when it's fairly nice.

As a side note, if you focus on rides the first 2 hours of the day right at rope drop and use fastpass wisely, you can manage with literally NEVER waiting in line more than 1 hour for any ride, even during peak season. I think someone around here has a post on surviving the summer season. I've honestly only had to wait 1+ hours for 2 rides (Space Mountain and Indiana Jones) and that's in 27 years of trips to Disneyland.

I like going the first week of June. You get the summer hours and many schools aren't out yet. You also have June Gloom so the sky is gloomy looking in the morning, which helps keep the temperatures down. Then by midday it starts getting hotter. That's when we break for naps at the hotel. Then we head back around 5pm for more fun.
