I know that some nice person here can answer this question. My sister and I both own points at SSR. We would like to plan a vacation together in a one-bedroom using some points from each of our acounts. What is the easiest or best way to do this? Does one of us transfer points to the other or can we call together and take some points from each of us? My other question if we combine points and there are 5 nights does one of us have to pay for 2 nights and one for 3 or can we each contibute 1/2 of the needed points? Thanks for any help.

Generally, you can't combine points, it'll either be your points or your sister's points, but not both ON ANY ONE NIGHT. 1-- You can rent two nights, and she can rent 3, and then connect them. 2-- You could use all your points this year, and she could use all her's next year. 3-- You could transfer the points to one account, and then use them to make ressies, but this isn't preferable because once they are transferred, they can't be banked. In other words, if you cancel your ressies, you may lose the points if you can't use them before the use year is up. This is the only way for both of you to use 50% of your points, though.

you can tranfer your half to her or vs

just call ms (you will need her membership number) and have MS transfer your points into hers.

I am assuming that you both have the same use year - and the points will be good for that date.

Thanks for the information! Good point about cancelling! We do have the same use year!

Cruella - Are you sure? My understanding is that you can bank transferred points. You just can't transfer banked or borrowed points. Anyway, if anyone knows for sure, I'm ready to be corrected. TIA.

Best wishes -

I think it is the reverse if I am remembering right. You can transfer banked or borrowed points, but you cannot bank transferred points.

You're right, I did that yesterday. I moved '04 points from one BWV contract to another (of a different UY) then requested the new combination of points be banked into the '05 allocation of that second contract.

DVCconvert--with due respect, this is not the same thing. They don't necessarily apply the same rules to a single member transferring among contracts that they own.

Here's the scoop on transfers...you can bank transferred points, but you cannot transfer banked points.

If you are wanting to both 1) transfer, and 2) bank....you must transfer first and then bank. Once points have been banked, they cannot be transferred.

Well, I learned something I guess. Just another example of how the system may be screwed up. With the problem of the transferred points not keeping either their home resort or use year (well documented in other threads), someone now could have expiring points transferred to them and bank them, giving them up to nearly two years to use points that the owner would not have use of or be able to be banked. I, for one, hope they close these loopholes.

I have been involved in two transfers recently, and in both instances the UY remained the same, but the resort did not.

And I have been involved in one that it appears BOTH were changed (the person to whom the points are being transferred can choose the use year they want the points in--sometimes it is advantageous to keep the original use year, sometimes it is advantageous to switch it to your own).
