Questions About Online Check In with Southwest

I've never checked in online before so I have a few questions. The online check in info on Southwest's website says I have to enter our confirmation number and then either one of our names (it's my mom and me going).
-When I do this, will both of our boarding passes come up?
-Can we do this simultaneously, she from her computer and me from mine, or should I just do it for both of us on mine?
-I see that sometimes it might tell you that you have to check in at the airport and can print a security document for this, but not the boarding pass. How often does this happen/what is the point?
-I plan on checking us in from home, but will probably go to the library to print the passes. Do I have to physically print them as soon as they come up on the screen, or can I "print" them to a PDF file and put that on a flash drive to take to the library with me?

Sorry about all the questions, but I'm trying to be as prepared as possible. I don't want us to end up with C boarding passes because I don't know what I'm doing! On our way back we're using EBCI, so no worries there, we'll just have the RAC desk print it for us, if it's not already delivered to our door.

Thanks!

If you are both on the same confirmation number, then both names will come up. Check the boxes to print the boarding passes and they both will print.

You can print your boarding passes at the airport. There may be a kiosk (as there is in Orlando) or the skycap will do it for you. There is no need to go to the library to print them out. But, there is no need to physically print them once they come up on the screen. I just close out the screen. No need to put them on a flash drive to print them at the library. Just re-do a check in online at the library. You will get the exact same boarding pass number.

The key is to check in at the 24 hour mark. It doesn't make a difference when you print the boarding passes.

I can't help you with the security document question. I think that applies if your name is similar to someone on the "no-fly" list. Personally, I have never had that happen to me.

So, to answer your question about the "no boarding pass" and you need to check in at the airport.

This happened to me last me, I had no idea about it, I was so stressed out. It wasn't under my name though it was under my 12 yr old son's name. Silly? Yes? I called the airport and they told me not to worry about it, if it's a child, just show up and print your pass. So, for an adult, I guess they just want to see more ID. They told me it was completely random. So we were all in the A group and he of course got a C, but they told us he could board in A, no problem.
