Questions about iPod Touch

I am thinking of getting one for DH for his birthday. He said he wanted an iPod but the thought of adding all his music onto it kind of turned him off - he just doesn't have the time to fiddle with downloading etc. but I thought maybe I would go one better and get the Touch and download a bunch of songs etc for him.

My question is - is the Touch better than the iPod Nano, do you actually use the apps, how hard is it to use? Do you regret buying it and wish you had just stayed with the regular iPod? Is the 8G enough or should I splash out for the 16G?

Sorry for so many questions but I am clueless when it comes to iPods.

Thanks

I love my touch! I use it for music, videos, and I can go on the internet with it too. Mine is the 8GB but I wish it was the 16...it's almost full.

I had the iPod Mini before my iPod Touch and I would never ever go back! I love it! I don't think it's too hard to use it, I've been figuring things out as I go.

It's great being able to get wifi (when available), we have wifi at home so I listen to live365 internet radio (it has an app) all the time and its awesome. I think if you have the money for it, its worth it. I use it all the time though, exercising, on the way to work, at work, cleaning/cooking at home.

Its great making playlists directly on it without having to use iTunes on a desktop or laptop and also downloading podcasts and stuff directly onto it. I love it :cloud9:

I have the smallest size (8GB?) and it has ALOT of room on it, I don't have anything really huge on it yet though (like movies or tv shows).

Getting music onto the iPod Touch is essentially the same process as getting it on to the iPod. You have to get it into iTunes from your own CDs, the iTunes Store or somewhere else, then get it onto the device. The Touch obviously also can hook directly into the iTunes Store if you have a WiFi connection, where as the iPods have to connect to a computer.

Other than WiFi and accompanying Internet connection capabilities, I'd say the pluses for the Touch are the larger screen and the applications available. The plus for the iPod is essentially storage, storage and more storage. I filled up my Nano and would have the biggest Touch filled from day one, so I went with the 120Gb iPod Classic.

I love my iPod Touch. I have the 16g and wish it was larger, but it holds everything that I use most of the time. There are lots of great apps available (both games and useful apps), and the screen is great for watching TV shows or movies. As for the music - it can be time consuming to get the songs onto the computer if you have them on CD, but after that moving them onto and off of the iPod is very easy. Buying from iTunes is very easy.

Do you need it soon? There is rumor that there will be a new model announced at an Apple event on Sept. 9 (I think) that will have a camera and microphone, two of the features of the iPhone that the iPod Touch lacks.

I love my Touch! I have the 8g and even with all the apps and music I want, it's more than enough space. I never get tired of it.

My 13 year old loves his iPod touch, but I have to admit it can be a nuisance to use when we have to cycle the wireless modem when our wi-fi is not working (which seems to be more often than not)......

We have an iTouch 8g and really wish we had the 16. Dh told me they are coming out with the new one that will be like the new iPhone where you can just flip pics on to another iphone with a touch along with the bump for info.. we are waiting to upgrade to that and then the kids can have our old Itouch..

Thanks everyone for your input. I like the look of the Touch but after looking into a bit more and re-considering whether DH would really use all the apps etc I went with a 16G iPod Nano. I think he wll only really use it for music, but I will get him the Nike attachment as well.

Thanks again

I have a 32GB Ipod Classic and it's almost completely full between my music, podcasts and lectures for school. I really, really, really want an Ipod touch for school and if they announce a larger size next month I'll probably splurge and get it. Everyone I've talked with who owns one loves it and with more and more places becoming wifi accessible I should be able to use it pretty much everywhere I go around town. I'd wait and see what's announced next month before purchasing one though; if they come out with a new model, it may drop the price on the ones that are currently available.

Edit: I think we posted at the same time. I'm sure your DH will enjoy it!
