Questions about how Tables in Wonderland works

I just came back a couple of hours ago (only a 3 hour delay back to NY!!!). Anyway, I did not read all the replies, but I just wanted to add that you also get free valet parking at the hotels that you use the TIW card. Some hotels just asked to see the card, other hotels asked for the card AND the restaurant receipt.

We saved ALOT of money this week with the card (it was only the 2 of us). We will be going again in a few months with 6 adults and the card will get ALOT of use.

Enjoy!

I just happened to come across all these posts on TIW by accident and feel like I have just stumbled on a gold-mine! There are four of us and we don't do the DDP as to do a snack, CS, and TS daily isn't worth it for us. But, this would be more beneficial for us. Have a question or two though. Myself and DD (18 yo) each have APs. Would we be okay with just myself getting a TIW card for the four of us? The way I am understanding this is you can use the card for up to 10 people in your party, AP holders or not?

Thanks for the valuable and very helpful information here!

Yes, you are correct. Just one of you needs to get an AP.

One minor point: Guest Services is inside the park.

Guest relations/services is OUTSIDE the Epcot entrance at the International Gateway.

I purchased my AP online, went to Guest Relations and activated my AP. Then I purchased the Tables in Wonderland Card. Then I went into Epcot and enjoyed a beautiful day!

We feel like we stumbled on a gold mine as well! We really wanted more TS meals than CS, but the deluxe dining plan was too much for us, and would have cost us more money than one of us upgrading to an AP and buying the TIW card. We're going for 10 nights and staying on property the whole time, so the card will get plenty of use. Plus, we can order whatever we want and not worry about dining plan allotments. So we can share a dessert if we feel one dessert per person is too much to eat, and not feel like we wasted part of a dining credit. I also learned that TS meals don't have to mean that you eat yourself into a food coma. Meaning, I can go to lunch at noon at a TS, and grab a sandwich or a salad, then go to dinner between 5 and 6PM and not feel like I am stuffing myself too much. Just because it's a TS lunch and not CS doesn't mean I have to eat any more food than I would have eaten at a CS lunch.

Only one person has to have an AP to buy the TIW card. The card is good up to a party of 10. The TIW cardholder has to be present at the table and show ID in addition to the card. The bill must be all on one check, they cannot separate checks when using the TIW card.

All parks have a Guest Services window located outside the park gates. Epcot has two - one outside the main gate and one outside the International Gateway. There is also one at Downtown Disney.

I have a question can the TIW be used for a group of 6 which consists of 2 families and have the server give us separate checks but still use the discount on both checks?

The discount would appear only on the check with the cardholder's meal on it, so they would all have to be on the same check to get the discount for everyone. While some posters have reported that they were allowed to split the checks and have the discount applied to both checks, this is not TIW policy and you shouldn't count on being able to do it.

There is a $50 charge for a second card and it must be for someone who lives at the same address as the primary cardholder. There is also a $50 replacement charge if you lose your TIW card or forget to bring it.

8. We can eat wherever we want and not have to worry whether or not it accepts the dining plan! (HELLO, Cava de Tequila for tostadas and margaritas!).

I love La Cava del Tequila, but unfortunately, it does not accept Tables in Wonderland. Thought I should mention that since you brought it up.

I also wanted to share a reason why I like TiW better:

I can order a couple appetizers as a meal instead of having an entree. That's always a nice flexible option vs. the mandatory entree and dessert on the DDP.

Thanks, I did know already that Cava del Tequila doesn't accept TIW, but it doesn't accept the DDP either, so we probably would have passed up getting any food there and only gone for the margaritas, had we stuck with the DDP.

You make a great point about ordering apps instead of an entree. I'm generally more of an entree and dessert person, and DH and I tend to get dessert instead of an app when we go out to eat. But, if the apps are more appealing at a given restaurant it is nice to have the option of having some of those instead of an entree. Also nice that 20% comes off of alcohol at restaurants that accept the TIW card. We're not huge drinkers, but we do enjoy things like beer at the Biergarten, wine with dinner sometimes, etc. Nice to know the discount is even on those items. I didn't even consider alcohol when I did the math with the OOP extra expenses when we were originally doing the DDP, but I did figure it into the math with the TIW card, based on what we would order, since the discount also comes off of alcohol.

We are going down for a week and our group will range from 12-20 people during the week. There is a couple in the group that have APs and 1 TiW already. I'm trying to see if we can add an additional TiW to her spouse ($50) and then be able to use both for up to 20 people or split the group in to 2 smaller groups.
I called TiW and they said that we could do this, but I wanted to see if anyone has had an actual experience doing something like this.

Thanks!
