Questions about how Tables in Wonderland works

I just want to make sure I fully understand this before making a decision. According to my calculations, the TIW card can save our family a lot of money. Here is what I understand so far. Can you please verify I am correct?

1. If only one out of the 4 of us upgrades to an AP and then purchases the TIW card, the card will cost $75 and will be able to be used for out party, 10 people or less. Let's say I am the one who upgrades my ticket. I would have to be present at all meals. No need for my husband to purchase one as well.

2. I can upgrade the tickets I already purchased by going outside the gate at any theme park to Guest Relations, upgrading to an AP and using the DVC member $100 discount off the AP. I can also buy the TIW card at the same location once I have the AP.

3. The TIW card will give us a 20% discount at all the restaurants that accept it, for ALL food and beverages, including alcoholic beverages and non-alcoholic specialty beverages, for all adults and children in our party, parties of 10 or fewer people...it does not matter whether it is breakfast, lunch or dinner, the discount still applies.

4. There is an automatic 18% gratuity charged to all guests' checks who use the TIW card.

5. I can use my TIW card immediately after purchasing it at any of its participating restaurants.

6. We can order anything we want off the menu when using the TIW card, but we must present it to our server before ordering.

7. In the case of this July, when a surcharge will be in effect for certain character meals we are attending, we get 20% off the final bill, AFTER the surcharge is added. (Not that this would make a difference, we're talking maybe $3! Just curious)

Anything else I should know? I'm already aware that July 4th is a blackout date, but we will not be arriving until July 13th. Thanks!

That all looks correct except that there is no reason to show it to your server before ordering. We usually tell them at some point so they don't have to re-run the bill for the discount, but others do not. It's good enough to just put it in the payment folder when your meal is done.

So, for our meals at CRT, Chef Mickey's, Akershus and 1900 Park Fare, all of which we will be a party of 10 (other family is joining us for those meals), I will be able to use the TIW card for the entire party, and everyone will get 20% off, right?

As long as we can order anything off the regular menus, I see no reason for us not to do this!

DH and I did this last week. It has already paid for itself in savings! (Well, we eat at the higher priced restaurants so 20% came out to a lot.) We were also able to use it at TOTWL!

We did the same thing for the AP, also....bought a discounted ticket on Undercover tourist, used it once, then went to GS and upgraded to AP. They give you credit for full price on the ticket. Then with the DVC $100 off, it worked out great! Then we bought 1 TIW card and had fun fun fun eating, drinking and saving!

I would like to know this too. We have 4 ADRs that are for 10 people (the first few days my parents, sister, her fiance and my nieces are joining us). The remainder of our ADRs are only for the 4 of us. At the restaurants where we will be a party of 10, will they allow us to pay with different KTTW cards, or different credit cards? Or should we just plan to pay cash in order to get the discount for the entire table?

Not to take over the thread, but another TiW question. It says you can get a second card. Does the second cardholder have to possess an AP as well?

There is a charge for the second card and it has to be for someone residing in the same household

Here is a working example, using $100.00 as the original bill to make the math show up easily. Note this is for Table Service. At Counter Service there is no gratutity added.

100.00 - Original Amount
*20.00 - Discount
*80.00 - Subtotal
*18.00 - Gratuity Added based on $100
**5.20 - Sales Tax on $80
103.20 - Final amount charged, takes into consideration discount, gratuity and tax.

Without TiW Discount (and still figuring 18% Gratuity)

**6.50 - Sales Tax on $100
124.50 - Total

The TiW card is good for a party of up to ten people but it must be oin one check. The cardholder does not have to be the one paying, so if you have two families you can either alternate or work it wout between you.,

There is no such thing as a "DVC Discount" related to any Annual Passes (No matter what Member Services says).

There are three separate categories (or price ranges) of Annual Passes. The lowest price range is for Florida Residents. There is a higher price range for DVC Members. And the highest price range is "Tourist", which is people who do not qualify for either of the other categories.

Regular and Premium Annual Passes have the same privileges, no matter which price range they are in.

Good point, but you can also get a TIW card at Downtown Disney Guest Relations and this wouldn't be located inside a park. This is great for those of us who stay at SSR.

Yes, that's how it would work - they would ring up one receipt for 10 I assume and a second receipt for the other 2, that wouldn't have the discount.

I picked up my AP and TIW card at Epcot last week. Guest Services is OUTSIDE the park.

There is Guest Services inside AND outside the park. Since the OP is purchasing tickets in advance and wants to upgrade to an AP, they want to use the ticket once and then upgrade it at Guest Services inside the park.

No, at least not according to our server at Le Cellier (although he may have just been attempting to avoid having to run four checks for four people ).

Thank you for clearing all that up! So, they add the 18% gratuity to the original amount of the check, before the TIW discount is applied...I have to be the one paying the bill so if I pay by credit card it has to be only mine, they will not split the bill on 2 or 3 credit cards (or we could just all pay cash).

I know there's no discount for DVC members on TIW, but there is a $100 discount off the regular (non-FL resident) price of the Annual Pass for DVC members (purchasing an annual pass, not a renewal). I know the $25 off of the original price of purchasing the TIW card is due to being an annual passholder, not a DVC member.
