Questions about Downtown Disney

We just returned from a stay at SSR, and we spent time at DTD several days during our trip. We ate at T-Rex twice, and thought it was delicious both times. Same concept at Rainforest Cafe, but better atmosphere and better food...but with higher prices. We also ate at Planet Hollywood. Also excellent food, but very loud, frustrating wait. We should have planned better that night! Lots of opportunities for great photos, and plenty of places to stroll in and out of and window shop. There was also street performers there every night that we were there. The kids loved to watch them. It was a fun way to spend some time. We will definitely be going back to Goofys Candy Co. to make caramel apples and custom-rice krispy treats. They were FABULOUS!!!! It's a good thing we didn't discover them until the end of our trip! My son is a Lego fanatic, so he could have spent hours in that store alone. Overall, a visit to DTD is a must, in my opinion. My only regret is that we never made it to Earl of Sandwich for lunch...and I can't stop thinking about all the delicious sandwiches we've heard so much about!!!!!
Enjoy your trip!

I also enjoy DTD... I can't wait to try for the first time T-REX.... and, shame on me, never ate at Earl's... but I will try to fit it in this trip ha!
After a day in the park, it's nice to go back to the resort freshen up and go eat at DTD and then enjoy the scenery and shopping and performers here and there... it's so beautiful at night with the lights on... we almost go every night of our vacation... I'm addicted to DTD :rolleyes1

Ok, ok... I'm addicted to everything Disney!

Hi, my name is Nathalie and I'm a Disneyholic!!!:rotfl:

I am a huge fan of Basin...but my family never seems to want to
spend time in there with me....That's ok because then I can
take my time and enjoy looking at (and smelling and sampling)
the soaps and lotions and bath bombs...

I think DTD is great if you like shopping, but if you don't like that, then it could be a bit of a disappointment I think.

Personally, I love it! I love going into World of Disney via the Stitch entrance and watching people who don't know that he spits at you, and then just seeing all the cool stuff.

I think that a really fun thing to do is go to Goofy's Candy Co and make your own treats - if you search on these boards you will see people's pics of the store and what they had made for them. You choose what base you want - marshmallow, apple, rice crispie cake, cookie etc, then choose toppings like chocolate or caramel etc, then more toppings like crushed m&ms or crushed nuts. It's a ridiculous amount of sugar, but really fun to have made up in front of you to your recipe!

There are sometimes street performers, but not all year round. We go to WDW in December (generally the 2 weeks before Xmas), and I have never seen a street performer there. We did once see a carol performance in the open air auditorium opposite Ghirardelli.

I would personally go to Marketplace one evening and spend a couple of hours there and have dinner. Then, if you can afford it, on another night go to West Side and see Cirque de Soleil's La Nouba. It is simply incredible and well worth the (huge) ticket price.

Have fun!

Earl of Sandwich and Wolfgang Puck Express are perfect lunch spots that have very yummy food. If you have kids, they would really enjoy Rain Forest Cafe & T-Rex Cafe w/ all of the animated animals. It's a really enjoyable experience and the food is good. You could really spend an entire day at DTD if you do everything like Disney Quest, shopping, eating, exploring, eating some more and Cirque De Soliel at night. It's just really how much you want to do down there. My husband and I usually block a couple times off during our trip to go to DTD to shop and eat at a few of the restaurants their.
