Is the pool heated in April? Is there more than one? Can my six year old son use the waterslide? Can adults?

And, If I am arriving before they will let me check in, will they allow me to leave my luggage at the hotel and "get the party started" so to speak? Also, can I leave it at the hotel after I have checked out for a few hours? (Our flight doesn't leave until 5:00 pm or so and I thought we could check out but still hang out in Downtown Disney, etc. but what would I do with all of our luggage???)

Thanks again! I'm also done asking my gazillion questions :sad2:

Kathy

Yes, you can leave your luggage with concierge while you wait for your room or check out. They'll put it in your room if you ask them to.

Yes, the pools are heated. There are 3 pools, Neverland pool, the "quiet pool" and a kiddie pool. I believe everyone allowed to use the slide.

My DGD age 5 used the slide for hours!! She loved it. The pool was heated, and fine for her & DH, but still too cool for me. DH said something about them checking if kids could swim before using the slide, but they did not check DGD. The slide drops into 4 feet of water, and is a short swim to the side of the pool. There is also a hot tub.

Thanks! What if you aren't paying for concierge? What time is check-in at the DLH? I am assuming that the hotel staff won't let us in by 10:00 am but will they keep our luggage while we go check out Downtown Disney or one of the parks?

Thanks again,

Kathy

Check in is after 3 pm. They will hold your luggage for you and put it in your room (if you request) once it's ready. We do this every time we come.
It doesn't matter if you're not paying for concierge level. The "concierge desk" will be the one to hold your luggage. :)

^I thought bellhop holds luggages, not concierge. We've checked in as early as 8 am to take advantage of ee/mm. Our room wasn't ready but we just gave our luggages to the bellman and were given claim tags. When our room was finally ready, we just called bellhop and they brought up our luggages within a few minutes.

You could be right. I thought the desk was called the "concierge desk".

If they have a room available when you arrive, you will be able to get in right away. If not, they will hold your luggage while you go play. They will also hold your luggage after check-out (which is 11:00 a.m.)

Yes, a swim test is required in order for a child to use the slide (though apparently there has been a slip-up on occasion.) They will ask your child to swim from one end of the roped-off area to the other (maybe 15 - 20 feet?) They basically want to make sure children can drop off the end of the slide and swim to the ladder by themselves. It doesn't have to be pretty, either; my son dog-paddled on the test, and passed. :)

Adults (of all sizes!) use the waterslide as well. I saw two big burly guys talking about going down; one said he had to push himself along in a few spots, but enjoyed it all the same. I watched a very slender woman gently drop into the water, not even getting her hair wet. So I was expecting a slow ride myself, and was completely taken by surprise when I shot off the end like a rocket and dropped butt-first into the water! :lmao:

The bell desk held our luggage when our room was not ready, which is just outside the lobby entrance of the DLH.

DS (6) did not have to do a swim test to go use the pool slide. There were two lifeguards on duty, one on the ground level and one at the top of the slide. He was the only one in the pool also! You do need to be able to swim to use the larger slide, but for some reason he did not get tested.

It might have to do with size and age. When dd was 4 she had to do a swim test. She also had to do it at 5 and when she turned 6. On our last trip, dd was 6 1/2 and didn't have to do a swim test. My niece(4) was also with us on our last trip and she had to do a swim test. My daughter is petite. She only measure 47". We're hoping she'll grow an inch during the next 6 month so she can finally ride California Screamin.
