Questions about DL peak holidays

It's been a long while since we've been to DL. We have a 4 day trip planned with extended fam 12/26-30. I know it will be busy. We are staying off site (JW Marriott.) Is there an upside to purchasing park tix with genie+ in advance? Or would it be fine to purchase Genie+ day of if we decide want it? We HATED Genie+ at WDW over last Thanksgiving and didn't find it worth it (most times and rides we wanted weren't available) so not sure we will feel the same at DL. What perks /benefits are we missing out on staying off site? Thanks so much for any help and pointers for the busy holiday period.

That is really a decision you will have to make based on what rides you will be getting on, will you be rope dropping, how many people are in your party and if you all will be getting on the same rides. I only purchase Genie + on the last day(s) of our trip if we were not able to do all the things we wanted or if the lines were just very long, but we also stay on-site so now and before having the EMH has always helped.

I will also point out that I have been before xmas, during, the week after, and right before New Year which is the one you are going and that was the most packed I had seen the park during the holidays so genie+ might be worth it.

Having used G+ at both WDW and DLR, I think it works MUCH better at DLR, where not nearly as many guests purchase it (since there are many Magic Keys at DLR and they haven't yet offered them a significant discount on it). So don't let your WDW experience completely dissuade you. If you want to see the difference, look at the next available LL times on the DL app any given day and compare that to how quickly LLs run out at WDW. You will be pleasantly surprised.

Staying off site, you will not get the 30 minutes of early entry into each park each day.
