Questions about Disneyland

Hello Everyone,
My husband has been to Disneyland before when he was very young, but me and our sons (14 and 11) haven't ever been although we have been to Disneyworld a couple of times. My question is, how many days does it take to see Disneyland and California Adventure without going "Commando" style and does it have the same times of the year for being crowded? I am thinking of trying to go sometime either in 2005 (late) or early 2006. How long does the celebration last? Thanks for you tips.

I think 3 - 5 days is good to enjoy the parks at a relaxing pace. The celebration is going to last 18 months starting May 5th, 2005. So that should fit in your time frame. I would guess that it is probably similar to WDW in crowd variances.
The Summer is moderately crowded.
The Fall and Winter are generally less crowded with the exception of holidays.
March and April are more crowded because of the different spring breaks.
I just went last May and it wasn't too bad, crowd-wise.

I think 3 days is the minumum unless you happen to be a local who knows the place well and can go whenever you want.

I have to agree that 3-4 days will give you enough time to take it a bit slower. Generally I'd say 2 days at dl and 1 at ca, but with older kids, you may want to spend a bit more time at ca or head over to Universal or Six Flags for a day expecially if they are coaster junkies like me and my family.
I like the parks so much better in the off season, though they still get crowded on the weekends from all us locals. The weeks between Thanksgiving and when schools get out for Christmas (just love the decorations) are a good time, as is January or Feburary. Just remember that hours will be shortened and some attractions will be closed for refurbs.
