Questions about Cultural Representative Program

Hi everyone... im really interested in the Cultural representative program with Disney - I would end up working in the Canada pavilion (as I am from Canada) and I was wondering if some felt like sharing their experiences with the program both good and bad...

Long story short I have been wanting to apply for about the past 6 years (and did already apply once) but certain things just kept getting in the way of me going. I am getting married this summer but my DH is TOTALLY supportive of me going - a few years ago we dropped everything and moved across the country so he could work his dream job - so now it's my turn.

I just want to know if the experience is really worth it. I'm 23 and love to travel and LOVE Disney more than you could imagine so this would be a dream come true for me...

It's a good programme. You would be statused as a Full Time Cast Member, with the benefits which that entails, including full Health Insurance. You can also potentially be used in a tipped position, which can be quite beneficial financially.

On the other hand, your Visa status wouldn't allow you to work outside the Canadian Pavillion. Likewise, unless he qualifies under another visa, your husband could not come live in the US with you (and Disney Housing won't allow it either). There's also the whole idea of representing Canada as a country of lumberjacks (I'm also Canadian, and I can't help but feel ever slightly embarassed I visit the Pavillion, lol).

Thanks for the info - I didnt realize I would qualify for health benefits - good to know... Chances are my husband would remain in Canada for the most part.

I agree with the lumberjack thing for sure...but hopefully if I do get the position I can work on changing that stereotype
