Hope it's ok to post this here, I've been lurking for a while and know ya'll have some good info.

Dh and I have talked about taking the kids up to Alaska <so they can see where we used to live> and doing this via RV. Figuring we'll need several weeks to do it.

We also need a lot...A LOT of room for this. If everyone that we want gets to go I'm figuring on 3 adults <so they can split the drive up> and 6 kids...ranging in ages from 4-15

Now from everything I've seen so far only a Class C will give us the sleeping space, or close to it, but that's not enough space from what I can see for during the day. Are there any Class A's that will sleep that many people?

For during the day a Class A might be the best option, but doesn't look like they sleep very many people.

If anyone has information along these lines I'd greatly appreciate it. We won't be doing this til next summer <so taking tents *would* work for helping out with the sleeping arrangements some>.

Thanks!

Sheri

Well, I don't know about your budget but you should check out the Newmar AllStar. It is a 2 bedroom Class A with the safest seating for kids that I've been able to find.

Here is a site to check it out:
http://www.newmarcorp.com/xq/ASP.default/pg.spec_prod/nav.Products/prod_id.135/qx/default.htm

That's the nicest 'family' rig I've seen lately!

That is the first 2 bedroom Class A I have ever seen! I wondered why they never came out with them.

Prior to that, you are right, Class C's have more sleeping room.

:tink:

Wow, thanks for the links there are some pretty neat coaches out there, I would love one of those Class A with bunkhouses.

While you are looking for motorhomes that can sleep 9 individuals, you must for safety sake look into the capability of these motorhomes to transport 9 people safely.

You should make sure there are seatbelts for all who will be in the MH while driving.

Make sure the MH has the cargo carrying capacity, (ccc) for the number of occupants and supplies you will need. There are some large MHs that can only carry an additional 600 pounds before the chassis limits are exceeded. Even 1000 pounds can be attained very quickly when loading a MH for an extended vacation.

One bathroom for 9 people will most likely take some getting use to.

Have fun preparing and be safe while traveling.

John,
I've heard alot of people talk about making sure you get a coach that has plenty of CCC but how do you know what the CCC is on a MH? It's not listed on the spec sheet. Do you get that info by subtracting the GVWR from the GCWR? :confused3 :confused3
Thanks.
