Ok, we have decided we're going to get a hot tub for sure. And we're going to build it into a replacement deck made of Timbertech, or a similar product. Probably about 500 square feet, and with some "pizzazz". We have a 360 square foot deck that is falling apart and was really boring.

Anyway, any ideas on what something like this will cost? And how about the timbertech material... any thoughts?

Thanks.

EDIT: Pressure Treated is NOT an option.

I had two second floor decks replaced four years ago. One is about four feet by eight feet, the other is 10x8, all vinyl except the supports, which are pressure treated wood, no stairs. It cost $11,000. I think they saw me coming. The vinyl is wonderful, no maintenance, no splinters, etc. The timbertech is great stuff too.

OUCH!!!

I had a 24 x 14 covered porch with mahogany flooring and beadboard pine ceiling put on last year for $13,000.

We used PT at home...reinforced for the hottub...its about 25x20 I'd say...This was in 96, when the "fake" wood wasn't out really...No issue's with it- low maintenance, I power wash it every spring, and reseal it- with thompsons clear...it's not "grey" like others who just let it grey..I like mine nice! I know theres issues with whats in the PT, but my kids dont eat the stuff, and never are barefoot on it.

At Dh's store, we have a deck made out of that "fake" stuff...It's got black spots all over it, I dont like it. To me, it looks cheap.. It's a deck that connects 3 18-wheeler box trailers that hold inventory...this was here before we bought the store.

Then- his new cabin- he but a HUGE deck on that, and it's PT ....

I like the vinyl stuff, I think I'd go with that over the fake stuff, or I'd go with PT

Yup, they saw the single woman, with admittedly no clue, and took full advantage. I now know to do a ton of research and bowl them over with it when getting any quotes for remodeling work.

I'm glad you said it first! I had a quote to fence in my back yard ( vynil ).... 200 linear feet of 8' high fencing and that was 8K. That is 1600 square feet if my math is ok.

I'm specifically staying awaay from PT due to maintainence issues. My fence turned gray almost overnight, it seemed. PT is not an option.

No, that's not 1600 sq ft. Fencing is sold by linear feet. Vinyl is a lot more expensive than wood. IMO, vinyl looks cheap. But doesn't need painting.

Yes, that is what I said in my previous post... 200 LINEAR feet. But if you take an 8 x * piece of fencing, well that equals 64 Square feet. You need 25 of those to make 200 linear feet. 25 X 64 = 1600 square feet of product for a 200 linear foot fence.

If my fence was not as high, it would have been less than *8K to build.

if it's going to be in the sun, you may need to wear shoes on it, the "plastic" decking hols the suns heat really well.

actually the prices while inflated from our area sounded ok,, i priced out a 10 X 50 deck back in august with pt wood and just that materials were over 3000, going with the imitation, you will have a sun issue, it does hold heat , the price ius also about twice pt woods, labor will run around 5 grand, or more depending on how "fancy" those extras are, (basing this on my price for herer + 1/3 for your area) you might consider wood framing with just the artificial decking and rails,, that could save a bit, i'm not sure exactly on the price range w here you are, but around here the imitation is still cost prohibitive,, we payed 78 bucks for a 20 lb box of screws tho use with that decking( tyes u must use the special screws ) either way hope you enjoy your new deck:):)
