It's been a while since I've been on here, and if this needs to be moved, I completely understand. I just couldn't find what I needed to know after searching the board. We are traveling in our motorhome and staying at Ft. Wilderness in a few weeks. I will be bringing my little lap dogs with us. I really need a loop that will fit a 42ft coach, shady and preferably grass for the dogs instead of pine straw. They are spoiled to going potty on grass instead of dirt or straw. I know this is a lot to ask for but I'm just gonna try and see. So if you have a suggestion on a site please let me know. I've been told that the 600 and 900 loops are good but after researching, I didn't see much grass, especially in the 900 loop. Thanks for any help you can give me.

Unless you are bringing sod with you there is not a lot of grass anywhere. The dog park has the most, but in the loops we saw very little that i recall.

The 1600 and 1800 loops have access to canal area and the banks are grass and is a designated dog walking area

What type of loop did you reserve, Cindy'sCastle? Full, Preferred, or Premium? That would help us narrow it down for you.

As PaHunter said, there is not a great deal of grass per se in the campsites. That's because there is a good deal of trees to provide shade and grass doesn't grow well in shade. As FtW Mike said, there are canals near those two listed loops and those are in the "Full" site category. So it's just going to be luck of the draw.

My suggestion would be to go to your assigned site once you get to the Fort and if it's not satisfactory, look for an empty site of the same category that is satisfactory. Call the front desk and ask if they can switch you over to it in the computer system (you don't have to go back to the office).

600 has few trees and most they do are short (recently planted a few years ago) and it also has one side that backs up to a fishing pond that has some grass around it. That might be your best bet to ask for first. I've stayed in 900 and that would be a solid "No" for grassy sites. (both of these are Premium loops).

I am in the 600 loop now. Definitely shorter trees here, but not a lot of grass. However, we are right next to the Meadow Trading Post and you could take a short little walk down the path to there to find some grass (there is some right off of the path in areas.) In addition, I took my dogs on a walk this morning (old labs who will go anywhere, one even goes in the road while she's walking.) Although the 900 loop has lots of beautiful, tall trees and not grassy sites, there is a dog walk behind it along the canal. On that walk there are some grassy areas. Not sure if that helps or not. That's my 1st timer 2 cents worth. Good luck!

Thank you all for the responses. We reserved a premium pet friendly loop. A friend told me that spots 931 & 932 are nice and also spots 601 & 602. Our motor home is no longer than 42ft but we have slide outs on both sides. My husband is very adamant about not having limbs rubbing up against the rv, especially with the custom paint job the previous owners had done to it. So I was trying to find a large spot with grass. But I might just have to compromise and go with a large spot, then bring sod with me to lay down for my picky dogs to go potty on. That was also a suggestion I thought of but my husband actually laughed at me about wanting to go buy a few pieces of sod and bring with us. I guess I'm not the only person who has thought of that since PaHunter suggested it also...lol! Thanks y'all!
