Questions about auditioning for entertainment

I'm planning to apply for the Spring 2013 semester, but I'm a little confused by the whole process. My number one choice would certainly be entertainment. I have extensive experience in theatre and love nothing more than to perform. My dream would be to be a face character (I've been told by many people that I look like Alice and I'm in the proper height range) but I realize that's unlikely.

My concern is that there haven't been any auditions anywhere near where I'll be in the fall and I'm not sure I can just drop the money for a plane ticket. I've heard that sometimes there are auditions specifically for CP students during the program and I'm wondering if that'd be my best shot. Is there a way for me to find out if there will be an audition during the time I'm in Disney World if I'm accepted into a different program?

For female College Program participants there will usually be a Face audition sometime after you are scheduled to arrive. There was one for my CP and I know a few people who got pulled from their old roles to play face. It is strictly a face audition, I think, and is only held if they are looking for some roles to fill. Additionally, they won't tell you which ones, either. You won't be able to audition for Character Performer separately outside of that, though- once you do your role, you can't transfer out unless for very specific reasons.

"may" would actually be a better word than "usually".

If they have a CP face audition right after arrivals, it would be due to operational needs. They don't always have one.

If I can find a way to get to the overall audition, what would I be auditioning for? Just for fur/face or would I also be auditioning for parades and such?

You would be mainly auditioning for fur. If they like you enough, it is possible to get face or shows/parades (but not common for CPs).

I emailed asking this exact question. You attend the audition generally for fur, but they assess your face/height for possible roles. If you make it thru a few rounds into the more complex dancing portion, they then determine by your skill level if you are right for their parades. Good luck.. i'm still on the fence about what to do.. i'm going to attend an audition for entertainment first before i apply to the CP to see if i have any luck :)
