Questions about arriving to your resort for check in around 9:30 pm (negatives)?

Just thinking out loud, but I wonder if you list your true arrival time (i.e. 8pm for example), if that then runs the risk of you potentially being bumped from your originally assigned room? In other words, if they expect you are arriving around 8pm, chances are they will send your room ready text around the 3pm check-in time, or later. Until then, that room is fair game to be moved if another guest needs it for whatever reason. I used to work in a non-Disney hotel, and PP is correct that they will move room assignments around from guests who have not arrived yet, but with Disney texting your room number, it just adds a different element where they no longer have that flexibility once your room number is sent to you.

I don't recall if they ask you your approximate arrival time but I don't think I would say 8pm if so? I would probably say 4pm. Can I do that if they ask? Because i agree with you! I want to know as early as possible what my room is.

It's part of online check in.
But, if you are flying in and you've given them your info for ME, they use that automatically. You can't put in a different time.

My flight arrived 5 hours later than scheduled, and when I arrived at CSR they upgraded me to one of their business class rooms (when they were still available), so I could grab something to eat. There have been numerous times that i have arrived past 9:00 p.m., and have received great rooms - and I never make room requests, either.

We landed around 630ish last time and I think we were at the resort around 8? We packed what we needed for the night in our carryons and had them hold the bags until the next AM. When I called bell services to deliver the bags, they were delivered within 10 minutes.

How did you let them know you wanted the bags held until the next am?

Our family arrived pretty late on our last trip and the room we got was not our request. We were water view at YC and got a shower only room. Certainly not a deal breaker, but with kids it's nice to have a shower/tub. I went back down and requested a move, and unfortunately there was not a shower/tub room available until the next day. We held tight and moved after the first night. It wasn't horrible, but we did have to leave our luggage at bell services before heading out for the parks that next morning.
They took care of our bags getting to room and we received our new room number via text. It's the only time I've requested a change, and happens to be on the trip that we arrived the latest to the resort (out of 7 trips). One additional note is that we took private transportation to the resort, so I imagine if we had taken ME we would have been even later arriving.
Also, it was Thanksgiving week so I doubt they had many empty rooms to be shuffled to. Overall, we really liked the second room so much better and I'm glad we asked for a move since we were there for about a week.

. Because of this, if our flight lands after 5PM, we grab our luggage and wheel it to the bus.

Another question. We have some special needs so I need to fully know how this all can or would work out and not create too much hassle for us. If we bring our luggage via DME or Minnie Van, when we arrive at the resort, where are we dropped off? Would we be near Bell services? Would there likely be anyone to help us to the room with the bags at 9pm or would we most likely have to bring the bags to our rooms ourselves? (for reference it would be Port Orleans FQ, which I have never stayed at).

Right outside the main lobby.

Would we be near Bell services?

Yes. Bell Services is located inside the main lobby.

Bell Services is available to assist you 24 x 7.
