We currently own at OKW. We are looking to add a small contract (about 25 or 3 more points). My questions:

--Would we be better off getting an additional contract at SSR (minimum 50 pts) because of the extended years on SSR contracts?

--We do go every year - usually multiple times. We prefer not to borrow. We will bank any remaining pts. we have left, which is usually a minimal amount.

--It seems to me not much can be done with 50 pts. in one year. Do people bank & borrow to use these points?

--With the above in mind, (the fact that use our points every year) would we just be better off adding on to OKW?

Any input is appreciated.

You can add 25 points at SSR or any resort that is the min.
If you book durning a time of year that you do not need the 11 month window for OKW the buy where you want.
I think the promotion for memebers for 91 a point at SSR ends June 10th if you add 50 or more points and you get the 06 points if you have not reached your use year yet and you can bank them. If the price is the same for SSR or a even a few dollars more then the extra years are certianly worth something.
you could still use just the 50 point contract and stay in a studio a few+ weeknights a year or bank and borrow for every 3 rd year or???

Even with add-ons the standard advise of "buy where you want to stay" still applies. That way you still get to use your home-resort advantage. The additional years are certainly a consideration, but my opinion is that the quality of your enjoyment of the years is probably more important than the number of years.

We love SSR, so there wasn't any question about where we should buy. We plan to stay there for most trips, and only experiment with other resorts occasionally. When we add on, unless there's a Contemporary Villas as a choice, the points will be at SSR.

One example of a way to use a small add-on contract is indeed to use banking and borrowing. With 50 points at SSR, you could bank and borrow to make one 150-point stay at SSR every three years, and still be able to book at the 11-month point. Stay at OKW in the other two years.

Of course, if you don't mind booking without the home-resort advantage you can use your points as part of whatever reservation you're making.

This probably makes the most sense.

We love OKW for many reasons - the size of the accommodations being a major consideration for us. The grounds are beautiful.

I guess we'll talk about it a little more before making our final decision. Thanks for your help.

I am probably going to add on a few points at the AKV, but i am waiting for next year, the price may go up, but if I wait until summer 2008, I will still get the 2007 use year points that they are offering now, (Sept use year), have a year's less dues to pay, and I am betting that the points won't go up more than five dollars in that time for members. Heck, by then, they may even have a friends and family promotion at AKV! I have a whole year to save it up!
