Questions about All Stars

I'm thinking about reserving a room at an All Stars resort for 2 nights (Dec. 26 & 27) before my ressie at BWV starts. I've never done this before, so hopefully somebody can help me answer these questions:

1. I have an AP. Are there EVER AP discounts for All Stars for Christmas week, or is that out of the question? What about discount codes?

2. Are all the All Stars priced exactly the same, or do rates ever vary between them?

3. How far in advance can I make this ressie? Guess I should know that, but I don't.

4. How far in advance SHOULD I make the ressie? Do those resorts fill up quickly for Christmas time?

5. Which of the All Stars do you think is the quietest, if there is such a thing? I'll be by myself until other family arrives on the 28th, and theming isn't that important to me. If one is quieter, that would appeal to me. If not, that's fine too.

6. Is there such a thing as an All Stars room with only one bed, maybe for a lower rate?

Thanks in advance for your help!

:D

well, i can answer only one--reserve now!! we have stayed at movies and music and they both seemed about the same noisy-wise. not sure about the rate, but i do know that not all of the AS will have AP rates. we had to change to music in december since movies did not have an AP rate. good luck!:p

I have to agree about making the reservations as early as possible. The week between Christmas and New Years is high season but someone told me that if you book the first night at the cheaper rate then you get the cheaper rate for the entire stay. It might be worth while to see if booking Christmas Day would save you any money.

Thanks for your replies! That's a good tip about maybe arriving on the 25th for a cheaper rate. Will have to see if that's workable for me, and if there'd be enough savings to warrant it.

Anyone else? I know there are lots of All Stars veterans out there! I'd love the benefit of your expertise.:D

I would not suggest going to Movies. I think that one is the most popular, and a lot of times they don't offer discounts for those rooms. I'd make your reservation now. No, the rooms are not all the same price. Calypso is considered better and costs $10 more a night. If you are looking for quiet, then stay in the country area. It is the furthest away from everything, but quieter. We've never had a problem with noise at either Music or Movies. At Movies we stayed on the back side of the hotel. It was nice. No, I don't think you can get just one bed and save on money. They are standard with two beds. The only one beds are king size, and I'm not for sure, but I think they cost more.

I can answer your last 2 questions. If it's just you, ASMu (Music) is the quietest and most "adult-oriented". Most kids like Movies first, with Sports a close second. That's what I love about Music (as you can see by my signature). Request Jazz - it's the closest to Melody Hall without paying extra. Second choice for me is always Broadway - I love the themeing and it's the next set of buildings from Jazz.

As far as beds, they do have king beds, but I believe they are extra. When I go solo, I just get a regular room with 2 beds. Good luck!! :smooth:

Thanks, Madi100 and travelin' tigger! That's exactly the information I was looking for.:D

I've stayed at ASMusic and ASSports, both solo. Myself, I prefer ASSports, only because it seems to be laid out more conveniently where nothing is as long a walk as the "bowling alley" effect of ASMusic. And king beds don't always cost extra. I didn't request one, but was offered one when I checked in. It was a handicapped room, no tub, and frankly, I think they had too many of them left, and not enough rooms for families w/2 beds. As soon as the CM saw I was a solo, she said "Oh, would you be interested in a king bed?" I didn't save any money, either, with only one bed.
