Hi all! I have been reading threads and have seen people saying they have been staying 1-2 weeks at universal? To these people, is it just at UO for the whole time, or going to all the parks in Orlando? Seems like an awful long time for just the two universal parks?

We are staying a week and doing 4 days at the Universal parks and 1 day at either Seaworld or MK---maybe----.We like touring slowly and we enjoy the 4 days at the 2 parks tremendously.NO commando style touring and lots of downtime at the resort pools and alot of time to just sit and people watch, enjoy the atmosphere and relax.

i will be onsite for 11 days.
yes, that entire time will be at the darkside and nowhere else.

i don't see it as just two parks.
you also have city walk and dining/evening entertainment, hotel activities, velvet lounge at hrh, cinema at city walk, hotel and pool entertainment, hard ticket event, mini golf, hard rock live shows, etc.

it is a totally relaxing vacation!

i start my vacation at the motherland resorts.
7 days there and then switch to the darkside resorts.
so there is no need for me to do any parks other than UO for the end portion of my trip.

i read posts from newbies and day guests that state they can do the parks in one day.
others say two days and they have seen it all.

i assume that they rush from one ride to another, skip attractions and the shows.
and probably don't check out the street performers, side shops such as Lucy or the Magic Show, spend time at Mystic Fountain, watch the parades or meet the characters roaming in the park.

everyone does their vacations and park activities differently.
interests vary on what people want to do on a vacation.

i try to see it all and do it all.
some trips i need more days than i have scheduled.

We stayed a week and did one evening at MK at the Pirates and Princess thingy. The rest was at Universal.

We would go to the parks in the morning. Go back to the hotel for the afternoon and then back to the parks late afternoon.

I do like how close everything together is at Universal. I can't see myself spending 11 days like one of the PPs, but I could see maybe 3-4 days based on our style of touring that our family enjoys

In 10 days we'll be at Royal Pacific for 4 days, then at a Sea World hotel for 5 days. Really looking forward to a fun-filled but RUSH-FREE vacation. I love that the parks don't open until 9, so we won't be rushing in the morning to get up and get going. I just can't wait!

I wish I could spend 11 days in the darkside :sad1:

I'd stroll through the resort swimming pools, visit all the CityWalk places, play some miniature golf, take a gazillion pictures at a slow pace of everything, sit in a corner of the parks and CityWalk and just chill and let time pass,... someday.........

Meanwhile, I gotta go Marquibiri Style... tight schedule! Run here, run there! Only have 4 days in my October trip!

Cheers!

Marquibiri :thumbsup2

We do 7 nights on site every other year. The alternate year goes to Disney. It's great to take it slow, no rushing around, plenty of down time, pool time and fine dining in the evening. I love Disney, but our Universal year I don't feel like I need a vacation after my vacation! A week feels about right, though. Maybe a bit longer would be nice, but I get home sick and believe it or not, tired of eating restaurant food after a while.:)

There is a lot to do! I've never really been more than 3 days so I've always only toured commando. Thanks for answering my question all!

swim, try and catch the conch/torch ceremony that is held at rph near the pool.
it's about a 30 minute presentation and ends with hula dancers.
when their dance is over, they invite kids and everyone to join them.

it's free and it's fun!

i saw it on satuday 6pm a couple of times.

think it has more shows during the summer than just the saturday.

This is what we do but we like to be on the go a lot. We might spend 4 or 5 days in the parks and maybe not the whole day each time. We also enjoy exploring new things around the central Florida area. We also might visit that other big themepark place. ;)

When I grow up I want to be like macraven. :)

For our first Orlando stay we ended up with 2 partial and 2 full UO days (stayed onsite), and we left wanting more more more. We were late in leaving UO to get back to WDW for our Jambo reservation and Sanaa dinner because we simply didn't want to go. We LOVED re-riding things, re-experiencing areas, having tasty food over and over.

But on our second to last trip to Disneyland we stayed eight nights and only left for groceries and Weight Watchers meetings! (yes we go to meetings even while on vacation)

Our upcoming trip is shorter than I like, but we had a preplanned trip in January before a RCCL cruise, and it only made sense to stay at UO before. DS and I will be in FL long before the cruise and we'll be roaming around a bit, but as soon as DH gets into town we're heading to UO. 8 nights, if I'm doing the math right. That's not to say we won't venture to WDW at all; we do like our traditional faves over there and our APs for WDW will still be in play. But the focus is going to be on enjoying the heck out of UO and the resorts, playing minigolf, etc etc. I'm so excited!

(of course, I'll also be in town to run the 5K then the Half Marathon, so I might spend the whole time in the pool recovering, LOL)

You guys are making me feel SO MUCH better about spending 4 full days at the parks before heading over to the Sea World hotel. My daughter is already asking if we'll be able to go back to Universal/IoA after we switch hotels...I told her of course! We'll see if that actually happens. I'm really looking forward to this trip and to a combination of lots of fun and a little bit of relaxation. Who knows, maybe I'll become a Universal addict after this, and we'll make it a regular thing!

We spent 16 days in Orlando one summer and we all agreed it was one of the best vacations we ever took. Because we were a large party (9 of us) I rented a private pool home.

We spent 7 days between US/IOA, 3 days at SeaWorld, 2 days at Busch Gardens, 1 day at MK and 1 day at Ripley's Believe It or Not. The other 2 days we hung out at the pool at the house.

Most days we went to the parks in the morning, left around 1 pm and some nights we went back. We took our time, re-rode all the rides we wanted to, and generally had a great time.
