This is an off question but has anyone here ever had a problem with theft at the Fort or any other campground for that mater?
I do not know of anyone who has had thier rig broken into or things taken from the campsite but in the world we live in I wonder how long it will take to filter into the camping world.

Plain and simple, I just follow the rule not to make it simple. I lock up anything expensive and don't worry about the rest. Also, since my camper is so small and relatively easy to haul off, I have a couple extra locks for it.

I have heard of teenagers getting into coolers at the Fort. (Read it here), but I've never had a problem even when tent camping and no real way to lock stuff up.

so far no problems in 8 years of camping, we do however put expensive things inside when not at the site.

never had a problem, we do lock our trailer when going out.

i always use the adage out of sight, out of mind when camping, if it is valuable, i lock it up

been camping at the fort for many years, not a problem

I do the same and never have had a problem.

We had all our Christmas decoration stolen last year off our site but it was not at FW.
There are bad people everywhere so if you like it lock it up.

We've never had a problem with theft, but we always lock up our valuables.

However, we've been at campgrounds (not FW) where theft has been a problem -- teens creating havoc at night.

there are also lock boxes at the place where you check in to keep valuables.

It is good to hear that there is still one place that is prety much appart from the outside world I hope that element never moves in. I allways wonder when I pass by a tent site with all thier stuff spread out or even a popup camper we all know how secure they are.

People get a false sent of security at WDW people let there kids and do thing they would never do at home or the mall. I worked for Disney and at FW people had stuff stolen all the time well also had golf cart stolen weekly some we found in lake some where never found. Just because it WDW don’t let your guard down.

we have never had a problem in disney there was a problem in the camp we stayed in in fortlauderdale before we got to disney in Nov 07 there was 4 gps units stolen the day before i arrived i thought great i went down for a wedding before going to disney so i had more valueables then normal guess i need to hide everything i wouoldn't leave anything out side til i got to disney i took a little walk one day and the neighborhood wasn't very good so i could see why they had problems the camp was only fenced on 3 sides and no visible security not going to recommend it or use that one agian

The only problem we had in disney was about 3years ago we had a group of boy scouts that where split up they were behind us in the tent sites and across from us in the 1600 loop so they would run and bike back forth all day i don't think they went to the parks they just camped so little boys would just run and play all day we would go to open our door to go out of our camper and here would be some little kid staring at us we had our 2 dogs and the guy next to us had 5 goldens so they would bark with the kids running thru our sites so we would have to turn the radio or tv on to distract the dogs we tried to get moved but they could only get a site the day before they were leaving so why spend a day unhooking and rehooking the day of peice would be spent moving not worth it so i just turned the tv up and the dogs were good with it
thats the only problem we had in disney guess i'm just getting old and cranky and don't remember i was a kid once also:rotfl2:

In 12 years of camping (3 tent camping) we haven't had any problems but we do lock our valuables.

Several years ago, I read on another board that the majority of storage bins on RVs of all manufactures used basically the same key set and recommended that locks be changed. We did do that on our other RV but haven't on this one.

Last year at FW, there was a group of teen wanderers that was wandering the loops late at night. My DH made it a point to meet and talk to them when they were out by our RV. We're not sure but we didn't see them again. They may have left FW or may have decided our loop was too watched or didn't want to be held hostage to any more of DH's conversations. ;)

I want my teens to have fun but even at WDW, they have a curfew and expected camping manners and respect for fellow campers. We were camping over Memorial and our kids brought friends...some who camped...some who had never camped. We gave out the rules and expectations at the beginning to prevent problems. Helps that DH is a high school principal. :lmao:
