DH and I just got back Monday from the world. We took a DVC tour and decided to purchase but wanted to wait until we got home and moved some money around etc. Well yesterday we got the news tha DH's company was bought out! :sad1: Since we won't know anything for sure about his job situation for several months we decided to hold off until we have some assurance that he won't have any major changes in his job. My question is: we were offered a point credit if we made the decision to purchase by Thursday of this week. This did give us a small savings. Will this be the one and only time anything like this will be offered? I am assuming that we will not be able to take another tour and get the same offere since all our information is in the system. Has anyone had any experience with anything like this? Have we lost out on any incentives forever? If that is the case then we will likely look at resale...... TIA!

DVC for the most part alwats has an incentive usually either Developer points or cash off per point.. If you post what they offered we will be able to tell if it was the same evryone else is offered.
now it is developer points or 8 off of AKV or 10 off SSR this is for new members with 160 min buy in

It was the 8 off AKL and the 10 off SSR. Will they ever offer something like that again? What else might they offer?

that incentive has been around for several months. If that goes away almost certaintly there will be another to take it's place.

If they offered any incentives during the tour such as special financing, they normally put a limit of three days on these.

Yes it was a three day limit....I guess my question is will I ever be offered any kind of incentive again or was that my one and only shot at an incentive? I would think that they would not let me take another tour and offer the same incentive? Once this job situation is under control we are committed to purchasing DVC, but if there are no more options for buying directly from Disney then we would likely go resale.

Never say never however Disney vacation Club has been very consistent in denying these incentives after the time limit has lapsed. Disney is unusually firm in this situation. I do remember a couple people who were able to get Disney to give in but remember a lot more on the other side.

The interesting part of this is that Disney or at least the guides seem to be telling folks that these deals, which have been around for a while and have generally continued to be around are only valid for a certain time period.

I took advantage of a supposed 2 day deal with a Feb 07 UY at AKV. Was that really limited to those two days, or could I call today and get the same thing.

The fact that she was told until Thursday for the cash discount is, IMHO, a sales tactic to create a sense of urgency and help get the sale. This has normally not been Disney's method, but times may be a changing.

There are two issues here. One includes things like the cash discount and developer points which are pretty consistent to the groups they apply to. The other special are things like reduced financing costs that generally evaporate within three days of anyone taking a tour. The interesting thing is that if you don't take a tour you could get them anytime.
