Why does it close at 6? Usually parks dont close till 9ish...

Even though it closes are rides still open? I know its silly but I am going tomorrow.

It closes at 6:00 during the slow season. There are no lines so you should be able to do everything. You can only ride if you are in line by 6:00 PM.

Do you mean Disneyworld? Their hours for tomorrow are:
9:00-8:00 Magic Kingdom
9:00-7:00 Epcot Future World
11:00-9:30 World Showcase
9:00-8:00 MGM
9:00-5:00 Animal Kingdom

Only World Showcase is open until 9:00 PM.

SeaWorld closes at 6:00 PM also so I'm not sure why you think the parks stay open until 9:00. Most of them close early in the off-season.

I live in Florida and usually I go on Saturdays and at that time EPCOT stays open till 9 (even Future World) and Magic Kingdom stays open sometimes till 11 or 12.

I am unaware it was offseason - I didnt assume anything, I know my Disney stuff. I am new to Universal.

Right, most people are miffed at the early closing hours.

We tell them to go eat dinner at CityWalk.

IOA/USF is different from Disney, in that you can get thru the rides faster. Why? Because most Disney attractions have a pre-show that can take 10-15 minutes. For example, let's say you want to ride Rock N Roller Coaster or Tower of Terror at MGM. You have to wait thru the pre-show, even if you want to just go on the ride. At IOA, you can walk right up to Hulk and get on the coaster, same for Dr. Doom.

The key to all of this is arriving early at 8am when the parking garage opens.

You'll see once you get there that the crowds after six are non existant. The parks are really empty by then.

If you look at WDW Dec hours - all parks except Epcot close by 8PM.

Dec 14th for example

Magic Kingdom 9:00-7:00
EPCOT Future World 9:00-7:00
EPCOT World Showcase 11:00-9:30
Disney-MGM Studios 9:00-8:00
Disney's Animal Kingdom 9:00-5:00

Universal

both parks 9AM - 6 PM

After Jan 1 (actually after 12/25) the "season" begins and crowds arrive.

I will give this argument to the upper level of disboards (the wdw lovers) because more people - as in numbers of people stay at their resorts which generates more traffic and more reastaurants etc. so their parks can stay open a bit later. Traditionally Epcot has stayed open late all year but it will be very quiet in early December.

Universal parks in early Dec by 6PM are all but empty. Move ahead one month and lines are huge. In Orlando its all about the tourist seasons and kids off from school.
