I am just wondering why the abbreviation is LGMH - Lime Green Mickey Head
instead of AGMH - Alien Green Mickey Head!? They aren't Lime Green swatches, they are Alien Green...I am confused!!! I am not trying to be nit-picky...I was just confused earlier as I couldn't find a post with the specific color name!!

This being said...I am in the process of making my (A/L)GMH's!!!:dance3:
They are turning out great!!! Granted...my wife is a Graphic Designer, so really they are her doing. She said it was a little crazy to be "getting so into it", but then once I asked her to write/draw on them she was all business!!!
I can't wait to share the pictures with you all!!!:goodvibes

If I'm not mistaken, the generic lime green was chosen before Home Depot introduced the Disney paint swatches. Alien green got as close as we could get, but by then, LGMH was coined.

Im realtivly new to the Dis and actually dont know the full story behind the LGMH, could someone be kind enough to explain?

Long story short, the DIS got big, and DISers wanted to find each other at DLR and WDW, so they chose Lime Green Mickey Heads to scope one another out in the parks. Home Depot came out with paint swatches (that you match colors with how you want something painted) in the shape of mickey heads and alien green was the chosen color.

I posted a picture of mine in one of the LGMH threads floating around here.

Cool another forum I visit does the same thing for CCI (Comic con international) should I wirte my Screen name on it or does it matter?

Yes, I forgot to mention. You should probably write your DIS name on it to assure others that you truly are from DIS. I've heard stories of some approaching people wearing LGMHs only to be shooed away. :confused3

Just a little addition. The DISers wanted to pick a color, and at the time it was ribbons that they wanted to attach to their bags, etc. So, someone held a poll (this is sometime between 2000-2002 - don't remember exactly), and the majority chose lime-green. So, in those days, people would get lime-green ribbons, pins, etc., to wear to the parks to distinguish each other Then HD came out with the Mickey shaped swatches, and someone came up with the idea to get paint chips, and that then became popular - LGMH.

A 10+ year vet who knows her history! Thanks, Mary Jo!

LOL! MaryJo beat me to it, but to add to the history.....since we were looking for a ribbon we not only had to pretty agree on a color, but a color of ribbon that didn't already stand for something, ie...pink=breast cancer, red = AIDS etc.... So, we found something that was unclaimed and stood out!:thumbsup2
