i noticed that a lot of DISers tend to hate the All Star Resorts. I've stayed at them more than 10 times and had an awesome time everytime. They are an affordable resort and they have everything you need, a food court, pool, arcade, laundry, gift shop, etc. Whats so wrong with them?

I actually like the Movies, but don't like Sports or Music.

I don't like the Sports because I just don't want to stay in a place that has a giant coke cup on the side of the building! :crazy2:

To me, they are nothing more than a glorified Motel 6. When I go on vacation, I want to stay in a better hotel than that. They just aren't my cup of tea. I'm a deluxe girl.

I don't hate them!!!! They're on Disney property after all!!!! They are a fun, clean, inexpensive way to get Disney magic. We've had a blast at all levels-value, mod and deluxe! Stay on 192 if you must!!!!

I don't. I have stayed at ASM, ASMo & ASSp and liked them all :teeth:

The only thing that I don't like about the All Stars is the bus system....One night DH and I waited HOURS for a bus from Downtown Disney back to our resort, we finally sucked it up and paid for a cab to get back to the resort. I HATE that all three share 1 bus (I think it may be only two that share now - I haven't been to an All Star in about 2 years)

I do think that the rooms were cute and the pools are great.

I don't think people "hate" them as much as they think that staying at a value resort is beneath them. To each his own. We loved staying at Music last year.

I don't have a problem with them either. Never stayed there but I would if I wanted a quick trip, esp. during the colder months when I was not as likely to swim.

I probably would not like AS Sports because we are not sports fans. But the other two I'm sure I'd like.

We've been to Music and Movies, love Music! I am sure we will be back someday.

We've decided that we are either a Deluxe or Value family - when we can afford the deluxes (WL/AKL only) we go for it, otherwise, its Value resorts for us!

I love the All Star Movies resort. My DS3 is a big Toy Story and Mighty Duck fan, so he's in heaven there. We're going again in May and I was thinking of staying in a moderate, but I think he'd like the Movies better....and at the price, how could I say no?!

The only thing I don't like is that all the sporting participants typically stay there whenever there is a big competition. Now don't get me wrong (I was once one of those dancers staying in there for a dance competition), but they do tend to get pretty loud.

Hi!

I stayed at ASSports in 2003 with my 3 :earsboy: :earsboy: :earsboy: and we all loved it. I didn't have any problems with transportation and MouseKeeping had surprises for our boys evernight. The only reason why we are moving to POR this year is because my little :earsboy: is 4 now so he will need the trundle.... :flower:

The way I see it...if it's on Disney - I'm Happy! :Pinkbounc

Just because I don't have any desire to stay at the All Star resorts doesn't mean that I hate them. I am sure they are very nice otherwise so many people wouldn't be staying there. The rooms are just a little on the small side for me. I like to have a little more space in a room. It is just a matter of my personal preference and comfort.

Exactly. I appreciate all of the resorts. When I started a thread today about resorts I'd never want to stay at, there were a few in every level from value to deluxe and the prime reason I did not want to stay at these places was due to theming. But I still think they are nice hotels. :)

We stayed at Sports in 2003... I liked it just fine, but it was a little loud for me. (I know a big part of that was that we were on the first floor right by the pool.) The other thing I didn't really like was that since it's so big, it's very crowded... which leads to the longest lines waiting for busses.

We've since tried a moderate, and I think we're hooked! If our budget can afford it, we'll stay with moderates... But I certainly don't HATE the All-stars! :flower:

I think the AS resorts are cute & fun. Our first stay onsite was at ASMo and that's what hooked us in to the on-site experience! It was our gateway resort. :teeth:

I do think that the All-Stars are kind of like glorified Motel 6's, but, hey, at least they're glorified! Even at rack rate, the All-Stars are a good deal. We have paid as much or more for just a plain old motel (with no fun details, no hidden Mickeys, no gorgeous pool, no pretty grounds to walk around, no smiling CMs, no awesome food court/gift shop, and worst of all no bus ride to MK, Epcot, AK, or MGM) when on road trips.

We had a wonderful time at the ASMovies and the ASsports. We never stayed at the ASMusic, only because I don't care for the theme.

We always find our room very clean and always smelling fresh. Fabreeze?? The staff are always professional and very friendly. The grounds are always kept clean. I find the food here much tastier and have more varieties. I find the bus transportation average, but we usually rent a car, so this doesn't bother me.

We love the larger than life icons! It is sooo Disney! I love the fact that there are lots of families with children having a great time and we fit right in.

wow thats odd, the times ive been to any of the resorts i've had excellent bus service, even better than the deluxe resorts. Also all the all star resorts share the same bus during the day but they are seperate at the night time, especially after wishes or any fireworks show and at downtown disney. Even deluxe and moderate resorts share buses.

We've stayed at Music and Sports and probably would've tried out Movies had it not been for Pop for our trip this year. We really like the kitsch and love coming home to it each night. We also rarely spend a lot of time in our rooms. I'm sure for peole who value the resort experience, it would not be an option.

I don't hate them. But I don't love them either.

While they are a Disney hotel & themed wonderfully for what the are. They do however leave somethings to be desired.

I like having a resturant, not just a food court in my hotel. I like having a little extra room in the hotel rooms.

The All Stars are usually packed, crazy & LOUD.

There themes are wonderful & fun. Just not where I want to relax.

I stayed in the Music before our wedding & it was clean, and fun.

But I would just prefer a moderate or deluxe over the Value places.

However I am trying to convince DH we need to spend like 2 nights at the Movies on our next trip. I think my DS would just get such a kick out of the Movies. He LOVES Toy Story, and all the Disney movies. So I think he would love it.

So for him, I would like to spend a couple of nights there on our next trip. But then I want to move to the AKL for the majority of the vacation.
