When you are a DVC member and book your reservation, can you make certain room requests? For example, we want to buy at BWV and stay there every time we go to WDW, in a standard view one-bedroom. We would book exactly 11 months in advance, as soon as the day comes when we can book our home resort! I have heard from some people that from some of the standard rooms at BWV, you could see some of the higher fireworks from Epcot at night from your balcony. Would I be able to request one of these rooms? Last month we stayed at Pop Century for our trip. I had heard here on the boards that there were certain rooms on the 50s section where you could see some of the Epcot fireworks. So my TA requested that for us when I booked in November 2007 (I wanted to book in August 2007 when we were ready to book our vacation but my TA said there was plenty of time and to talk to her after the New Year...I insisted though by November as I wanted to book already!). We got everything we requested, except 4th floor (we got 2nd floor) because we had a choice of waiting until 3PM for 4th floor, or take 2nd floor and get into the room right away (it was just before 11AM). We chose to get into the room right away. We saw the fireworks every night and it was wonderful, especially with 2 little kids because we did not go to any of the evening entertainment at the parks.

So, can you also make room requests through DVC as a member when you book? Next time we go (and each time thereafter), we plan to only stay over one night on the drive down, about halfway, so we would be arriving past 4PM, the check-in time. So any room we are going to stay in would be ready at that point.

You can make the request but there is absolutely no guarantee you will get it. Requests are NOT granted based upon booking date, so whether you book 11 months out or 11 days out (pending availability) you theoretically have the same chances of seeing the request fulfilled.

Some people report they have had a lot of success in getting request granted...others claim they 'never' get their requests. In our 5+ years as owners, we have had a fair amount of success. We always request a higher floor (and that request has always been met) and some other location-based request (which is more along the lines of 50/50.)

Thanks! I know requests are only requests and not guaranteed. We would not feel like our vacation was any less magical if a request was not fulfilled. After all, we will be going there so much in the future, I am sure at ONE point we would get SOMETHING from our request, and even if we don't...we're at WDW within walking distance of 2 theme parks, in a HUGE accommodation with tons of amenities!!! That's the real reason for choosing Boardwalk...not to guarantee a specific room location!
