Hi!

How do you pay tips to the Cabana Host* ? Do you pay cash or do you receive a ticket and they charge it on the room?

Thanks in advance!

EDIT: I rephrased this one. I'm French-Canadian: sometimes my syntax (or the way I try to explain things) is plain weird.

The guy walking around getting your adult beverages? On the receipt like at any of the on-ship bars.

There is not a "waiter serving you in your cabana". There is a cabana host who is there for all the cabanas and will take you on a golf cart if needed (and that includes coming to take you to lunch and the bathroom if needed - I walked, my mom if going along walked, my dad we had the cart come). But they are not a personal butler for the day. That said, I tipped him in cash when he dropped us off at the tram stop at the end of the day.

I just meant that there is someone you can call, that will come, take your order and then come back with your drinks. I did not mean it like a butler. I read somewhere that there is a button you can press inside the cabana and someone will come and take your orders? (See picture #8)

There is a button, but that is for the cabana host - the person with the golf cart who takes you to and from the cabana. At least at SB they would come pick us up to take us to the bathroom and/or dining area.

The drink person is separate and walks around and checks with you.

It would never have occurred to me to assume the cabana host was there to get my drinks or my order of food.

Normally when you push the button the concierge host on the island will come to your cabana to see what you need as they are responsible for cabana service ultimately. They can call on the radio to get golf cart pick up arranged or drink server service. If you need more sodas, towels, waters, sunscreen, etc. they will get those items for you.

If we are in concierge, we add to our tip accordingly for our cabana services. If we are not in concierge, we tip our on island host in cash based on the amount of extra service that we need from them.

Good luck.

**When we have a host that has truly earned a tip, we pay cash.
We have had hosts that show us around the cabana in the morning and then never see them again the entire day, we don't tip.
We have hosts that check in on us and bring fresh towels or mosquito spray and then we give cash. It just depends on the service we get on the day.

As I told you before, I presumed because this is what I read. I've never had a cabana, therefore I can't possibly know 100% how it works before I get there.

And while we are arguing about semantics and who does what, all I want to know is how (and how much) I should tip the people helping us!

Thank you. Now, do you have a personal chart for gratuity? 1-2$ per item? Or more? What would you recommend?

We have offered cash to the CM who served as the host at a S.B. cabana and he refused the tip. On the F.B. the cabana hosts are the regular concierge crew and bartender. We tipped normally at the end of the cruise.
