Question Regarding Final Payment...

We are booked at POP for our October vacation, and our final payment is due August 20. I know that there's a little bit of a grace period regarding the final payment, but I'm wondering if anyone knows how long the reservation will be held before Disney cancels it. I'm hoping for a general public discount to come out before the due date so I won't have to stress about making that final payment (day camp tuition is KILLING us this summer!), but just in case...

I think it depends on how it is booked. I know when I booked through a TA she said Disney would cancel it at the 44 day mark if it wasn't pd. I am not sure I believe that. I was late one year and called disney. I was told they will not cancel a ressie until the 30 day mark. If it is not pd in full then they will cancel it. Hope that helps.

At 44 days they will start sending emails and a letter. Once it gets to 30 they will usually call before they cancel.

If you have a room only reservation then the final payment is due upon arrival but if you have a package reserved then the final payment is due 45 days prior to arrival.

Technically yes, but I wouldn't push it if it weren't absolutely necessary. Disney holds on to the reservation out of courtesy to the guest, they are perfectly within their rights as stated in their cancellation policy, to cancel the reservation anytime after the 45 day mark. If at all possible, I would give them a call and let them know the day the payment can be made.

I wouldn't press you luck and try getting into this kind of fiasco. Having your reservation canceled during free dining may be difficult getting you rebooked. Don't take a chance on having your ressie canceled and a loss of $.

It's not my intention to make a late payment...I'm just curious as to a possible discount being announced right around the same time as my due date. According the mousesavers.com, there has been a history of discounts being announced within a day or two of my due date...
