Question regarding crowd size in Jan

Hello everyone...first time poster here....can anyone tell me how they think the crowds will be 1/3/04 to 1/8/04....there is gonna be 8 adults and 3 children in our party and we are hoping we can accomplish a lot in the time we are there...

We've been two years in a row in January. No crowds AT ALL.
No, really! No crowds. The weather can be unpredictable, but we have been very lucky so far. Beautiful weather. Light jacket in morning, and sunshine during the day. MLK birthday weekend can get crowded, so watch out for that. I think your dates will miss that.

In eye-balling the calendar, you should be in very good shape. I'd expect some crowds on the 3rd and less on the 4th as those are probably the last two days of Christmas break for most schools. You'll probably be able to hear crickets on the 5th. If the WDW Marathon is scheduled for the 2nd weekend in Jan you may see an up-tick the the crowds the last day or so of your stay, but nothing major before the 8th.

The marathon is scheduled for Jan. 12, 2004, so you'll probably be leaving right before the surge! January is great. You may luck out and get sunny warm weather! But even cooler weather is still nice in WDW.

You will have more restricted park hours, but since crowds are non-existent, you'll get tons done during the day.

We were there this past Jan, and it was great. As for the early park hours, Epcot is open latest (9pm), so you can plan your dinners and evenings there. We had a wonderful time, although unusually chilly when we were there, 40's in the am waiting for the bus and in the evening for the parade, then only 60 and partly cloudy during the day. Be prepared for anything!

We've arrived on New Year's Day for the last 3 years. The crowds get less and less each day and by Sunday after New Year, they really get thin. The weather has been freezing at times, this past January was the nicest of the three years with daytime temps warm enough to wear short sleeves. Mornings and evenings down right cold, in the 30's at times. Needed hats, gloves, coats. Be prepared for anything that week, but we've had a blast every year.

We had a great January visit this year. Highs were in the upper-60s to 70s all but one day of our 6-day visit. Crowds were virtually non-existent. Longest wait of the trip was about 15 min (for the Great Movie Ride, of all things). We used fastpass sparingly--just on the rare occasions when it would spare us a 20 min wait. Tower of Terror, Kilimanjaro Safari (mid-morning), Space Mountain, among others, were all walk-ons.

The only thing that would concern me would be the potential for weekend cheerleading/dance competitions if you're planning on a Value or Moderate resort. Our last day there was a Friday, and the cheerleaders were EVERYWHERE. They didn't represent a huge jump in attendance at the park, but I've read that the large groups can cause a headache at the resorts later in the day.

I'm sure most of it is just teens being teens, but I wouldn't want my hotel room surrounded by them. Now the pool area is a different story.
