Question regarding Codes...

I know there is a lot of debate going on about these email codes..., can use them, cant, etc..

But I have a question that relates to this...

I had called months ago for reservations for November..
At the time I think they had a few different promotions/codes floating around out there... but i didn't know the code numbers..

When I called CRO, I asked the CM simply, are there any discount codes out there for the week I was planning. They quoted me various rates and told me the codes they were quoting... I ended up not booking as the hotel I wanted wasn't available, but later when reading the boards, I noticed that the code she quoted me, was actually a Disney Visa member code.. I never said I had a Disney Visa, and she never asked.

Why is it that the CM's can quote you these and other rates that you are apparently NOT eligible for? Has anyone had this happen before, and what happens when you go to check in? I find it hard to believe that Disney could simply deny you a rate that was quoted by a CM...when you did not specifically ask for that code, and they neglected or didn't know enough to advise you it has restrictions.

Has anyone else had this happen? Been offered a code discount without specifically requesting an actual code by name? If so, what was happened at check in?

I don't have any exact experience to tell you about, but here is what happened to me on our vacation in April. I had 2 reservations, one with a AAA discount and one with the Disney Visa discount because the Visa discount started a few days after we got there. When I checked in they never asked to see my AAA card ( in fact they never have asked whenever I have had a AAA discount). I gave them a credit card, not the Disney Visa card because I am now trying to get air miles for the next trip. When I checked out and checked back in for the 2nd part of the stay, the room was supposed to be charged to the Disney Visa, but the CM asked me if I wanted to keep the same credit card on file and I said yes. So I was never asked to show either the AAA card, or the Disney Visa card and got the discounts for both. Not exactly your situation, but that is as close as I have come.
