Question Regarding Buying Premium Annual Pass

Hi all!

I had a few questions regarding the Disney Premium Annual Pass. My fiance and I have recently found out that we will be moving from Pennsylvania (Brrrr.....) to Atlanta, Georgia! We travel to Disney annually and now that we will only be 6 hours away, we will definitely be traveling more than once a year, so it is worth it for us to get the annual pass. We've decided on the Premium because he's a huge water park fan, but I'm a little confused as to how they work, and I'm in a bit of a pickle. Here's my problem:

I read on another thread (from 2010) that if you buy your AP online, you get a voucher that does not become active until it is scanned at one of the parks. This is great for us, since we are going to be going in March (we aren't moving to Georgia till June), so we are happy that our anniversary would not begin until that date. However, I've been reading elsewhere that there is a possibility of getting a room discount if we have an AP, but I'd obviously need to book the rooms before the day I got there and scanned for the first time. So my question is, would I be able to use my AP room discount if I have the voucher, even if it hasn't been scanned for its first time yet?

Also, AP holders, any other tips or advice for first time Passholders would be greatly appreciated. :cool1:

I purchased an AP over the phone (only had a reference number for confirmation) as I live in UK. Booked a room through a TA with the annual pass discount. On check in I said I hadn't activated or got the pass yet but was planning to go to guest services at DTD. The C M said no problem, just go back to check in once I had it so they could confirm it on my booking. I did this the next day and had no problems. :)
