question regarding borrowing points

I am planning on calling when my 11month window opens. I need to borrow points from my 2011 use year for a trip in October 2011. I am planning a trip from a fri to a sat BUT I may want to change it from sun to sat. If I book now what happens to my points if I change it to a sun-sat? Do they go back into my 2011 use year? Do they go into 2010 because thats when my trip is scheduled?

It will depend on your Use Year. If you have a Use Year of October or earlier, you will not need to borrow since the trip will fall in your 2011 Use Year. If you have a December Use Year and you borrow points for a trip in October that is cancelled later, any points returned to your account would remain in your 2010 Use Year and would expire after November 30, 2011. Depending on when you would make that reservation change, you could likely have MS reallocate the points used for the reservation so that the borrowed points would all be used and any current (2010) points could be banked (as long as the reservation change was made before the end of July). If you cancelled the first 2 nights August 1 or later (with a December Use Year), the points could not be banked and would need to be used by 11/30. Borrowed points cannot be banked.
