Question regarding AP

I'm looking for some advice regarding an AP. Normally we go once a year -Dec. The past two years we've went twice but last year I had the 40% off code and went twice on that. This year we are booked for Dec at rack rate but have decided a last minute trip in just over a week also paying rack rate. I'm still hoping for a code for Dec and will try to book bounceback while in DW for our Dec trip but from what I've read on board, it's unlikely my choices for early Dec will be available (WL or Poly). So, is it worth me buying the AP if I can get a rate for next week and how do you deal with the balance of your family and dining?? The kids come on both trips, DH coming now and mom coming in Dec. Dining in Dec is a must for us. When you book with an AP, I've read you can add dining for the most part but how do you all deal with Park hoppers? Do you find it still all works out cheaper for you? If I can get the discount for next week with the AP from what I've read it will pretty much cover the cost of the AP. I'm sooo unsure what to do so would love to hear some feedback, I need to get my room booked (obviously) so need to come up with an answer! Any suggestions would be most helpful on whether I should go for the AP or not.

well for me I have already booked WL for December but waiting for the AP rates to come out ( hopefully they will be as good as DL) then I will purchase one if I can get a better rate. Right now I am going to be paying $866 a night for concierge, tickets for 4 days and the basic dining plane. I don't think that is to bad for Christmas week but I'll keep trying for AP rates if they come out. :cool1:

Not sure if I'm reading right your post right, but you CAN book the dining plan with an AP now and not get the park tickets. The same "package" rules apply ($200 deposit, balance due at 45 days out, etc), though.

We're booked that way for November with our brand new APs! (OK, right now they're just AP vouchers).

Do you have AAA? Try for that discount if you do. Otherwise, an AP for one of you may make sense in order to get the discount for your stay next week, and then you'll obviously have the AP for your December trip as well. It is unclear to me how long you are staying next week or where, but if you are going to be at a Deluxe for more than four nights, the AP is worth it. Plus, you can get the DDE and get 20% of most meals, which may be a better discount than getting dining anyway depending on what (and where) you eat. I would call WDW and see if an AP discount is available for your trip next week and find out how much you'll be saving (if available). That would help determine if it is worth your while. More than willing to help you brainstorm through it if you want to talk it through. Good luck!
