Question Regarding Amex Card

I have an amex card. But have never added on money onto it (just spent the original amount we put on when we got it at the travel agents).

Can I just phone Amex up and get them to take money off my debit card?

I would like to do it this evening as the rate is so good. Are they open in the evenings?

I am at work now and do not have any of the information to hand.

Sue, I believe you can reload it online or by phoning the number. However, when I have previously looked at reloading the card, they don't always offer a particularly competitive rate. When we went in February, it worked out much better for us just getting cash & TCs from Travelex.

Often, Travel Agents have offers on the Amex TC card - it might be worth checking if you could get a bette rate by getting a new one.

I will check their rate. I don't want to get any more dollars cash or travel cheques as I still have some from a few years ago.

I was thinking if I loaded up on the amex now I could use it to pay annual dues in January when the rate may go up.

Good news though that I can put the money on it tonight without having to leave the house after work, which means more time to DIS.

I've done it. It was so easy. Just phoned them up and got another £1,000 put on my card from my debit card. Got 1.92. If we don't spend it while we are away will pay off some of the annual dues with it.
