Hi Everyone!

We are hoping to go back to the World June 6 - 16 of 2007. There will be six of us: me, hubby, DSis 11 (turning 12 during trip), DS 11, DSis 7, DD 5.

We're buying APs for all of us. Here are my questions:

1. Would we be better off renting DVC points vs getting 2 connecting room at a value? If we go w/the 2 rooms at a value we'll have to buy one day passes for everyone in order to get the dining plan.
2. I think the dining plan is going to be offered to DVC members starting in April or May of this year. Can people who are renting points also add the dining package to their reservation?
3. If staying at DVC would we still have to purchase one day passes for everyone in order to get the dining plan?

I'm just trying to plan ahead...thank you in advance :wizard:

With 6 people you would need a 2 bedroom, so even if you rent points it will cost more than 2 rooms at a value. Especially if you are staying over a weekend

If you do rent points you can call Member Services after the reservation is made and have the Dining Plan added.

No, you wouldn't need to buy a one day pass

Thanks for replying dcgrumpy! I figured the value would probably cost less.
What other options are there for folks traveling with with 6+? Wilderness Lodge?

the only options would be two rooms or a 2 bedroom villa. All of the deluxes have a maximum capacity of 5.

Wait- now those renting points can do the DDP? How exciting! When exactly does this start, and do the same rules/prices apply? Thanks and sorry for the hi-jack!

It's available for stays beginning April 1st

*$37.99/Adult & $10.99/Child (ages 3-9)

**Dining must be purchased for: Length of Stay & All Persons Registered in room

***NOT tied into ANY ticket (i.e. you can use MYW tix, AP/PAP's whatever to utilize the parks - but, don't have to purchase ANY ADDITIONAL PARK TICKETS in order to purchase the plan).

****You can book beginning in January for April, 2006, usage.
From what others have said once you get the confirmation number you can call Member services and they'll add it on. It doesn't have to be paid for until check in

Thank you so much, you should really see me bouncing around with excitement right now! This will save us soo much money! :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

If you stay at a value and have to add 4 Adult and 2 Child one day tickets you may end up close to what a 2 BR DVC villa would be. Be cure to do your math before you make any reservations. You may even decide a split stay to not use so many points at DVC would work and use te money saved there for food and then get the DDP for the rest of the stay. There are just so many options it can drive you crazy but you have lots of time spend planning - one of the fum things about a trip to WDW - the anticipation and planning.

Not nearly as much as the full kitchen will save you! We generally don't feel the dining plan is a savings for us.

Beside, the Dining Plan might not be a DVC option by Summer 2007 anyway. It might not even be a non-DVC option by Summer 2007 either. Could be a whole new strategy.

Yes, a full kitchen is a wonderful option for those that want to cook. You can really save some money.

Another option would be to rent 2 Studios. I know when I first looked into renting points, I noticed that for our dates in April, renting a 2 BDR was a minimum of 150 points for Sun-Thurs, while 2 Studios would have only required 110 points. Just wanted to throw that out as something to consider. :)

If you go with two studios instead of a two bedroom, there is no guarantee that the two studios will be close to each other. They do not connect. They may even be in different buildings. With four young children, one parent would have to stay with two kids and the other stay with the other two kids. Not much of a family vacation.

A two bedroom would work much better than two studios in this situation.

Wow I didn't even think of this! It definitely wouldn't be much of a vacation having us split up like that.

castleri you're right, for me the planning process is "almost" as much fun as the vacation itself!
