I have a friend who had a hysterectomy in Feb.. She has been dealing with complication after complication. She is booked to go to Disney in April but knows she wont be able to do the walking. If she rents a wheelchair does she need some type of dr.'s note? And does she have to get a G.A.C. card to show why she has it...? thanks..

Hi and :welcome: to disABILITIES!

Nobody needs a doctor's note for renting either a wheelchair or ECV. Also, a GAC is only needed for people who have some disability that is not handled by a wheelchair or ECV.

If you click on where it says "disABILTIES" at the top of this page it will take you to the Index. One of the top items is the "disABILTIES FAQ" which will gives lots of useful information, page 2 is about wheelchairs, etc., annd page 6 is about GACs.
Or, if you want an easier route, click on the link in my signature.

Thanks..Im aware of how the G.A.C card works.. my son is handicapped and in a wheelchair b/c he is disabled.. i just wasnt sure if my friend needed one for the handicapped entrance for rides... she is unable to stand for extended periods..due to fatigue and what not... she may cancel the trip...

If she is having complications from the hyster, I would not be so worried about her stamina, but of the heat and humidity! The weather can be terrible at that time of year... Maby she should wait until a cooler time of the year or until she is feeling better. Good Luck.
