question re: trading for a ski week in 2008....

We've never done a trade through the World Passport collection and we're toying with the idea of doing a ski week next winter (preferably Christmas week of 2008) or in January 2009.

We own at BCV (200 points) and I'm just wondering if anyone can give me any insight as to how good our chances would be to trade for a ski week next winter. Like I said, that's uncharted waters for us so I'm a little fuzzy on what we need to do and what our chances would be.

Not sure of your chances at a ski resort because the words Eliza and skiis should never be uttered in the same sentence. But I have traded out before mainly in the concierge collection and once using world passport (London). It was extremely easy and the cm's were friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. The price has gone up to $95.00 bucks so don't know how much I'll do it in the future. I will say we have loved every single hotel that we have stayed in.

Since you are planning long-term, you've probably got a very good chance. Last year, I got a studio at the Grand Timber Lodge in Breckenridge for early April. Member Services found it for me the first time I called them. Unfortunately, due to injuries, I had to cancel the trip. I managed to rebook it last week for Dec. 29, 2007 - Jan. 5, 2008, but at Tahoe (David Walley's Resort) instead of Breck. So even with a very popular week and last minute planning, it was possible to get something.

Just be careful if you have to cancel, like I did. I forgot what the no-penalty cancelation deadline was and canceled 31 days before my trip. Consequently, I could only rebook the week 59 days in advance. Really put a crimp in planning. I think if you cancel 60 days prior, the week just goes in to holding and you have to use the week within one year of making the first reservation - check the website to be sure, though.
