I booked a room only for 3 days before my free dining dates begin then 6 days on the 2nd booking with park hoppers.

I called Disney to see what to do and he told me to buy 7 day park hoppers on the room only and then reduce the FD package to only 2 days but the most expensive days are the first few so essentially I am buying them twice.

Of our nine days, when I check in with the room only on the front end of our vacation, can I activate the tickets then. If I keep 6 day park hoppers and add water parks and more, could I then use a combination of park hoppers and water parks spread through out the 9 days (essentially giving me 12 days of tickets)? I guess we could just hang by the pool and go to DS and other hotels for the first three days if we can't use them.

The CM gave you bad advice. You can pick up the package tickets early at park guest relations, you just will not be able to make FP+ for those 1st reservation days until you get onsite. If you purchase 6-day park hoppers with the water park option, you would get 6 days of park hopping in the four theme parks (AK, MK, DHS and EP) plus 6 Water Park and Fun entitlements that you can use any way you choose for up to 14 days after first using your tickets. Yes, you could spread those out over 12 days (6 days of park admission, plus 6 visits to water parks, mini golf, ESPN or Oak Trail) or you could even use more than one of those water park/fun entitlements on one day. So, for example, on a 9 day stay, you could visit the parks for 6 days and on those other three days, use one or two water park/fun entitlements (say Winter/Summerland golf and Blizzard Beach on one of those days, taking up 2 entitlements). You could even do a park day plus a water park/fun option on one day, if you want (for example, EP and Fantasia mini-golf).

If you want, you could even purchase a 9-day park hopper as part of your 2nd reservation and pick up those tickets early if you would rather go to the parks on your first three days!

That's what I thought. I guess they are trying to make sales but I just couldn't see paying for a 2 day ticket plus a 7 day ticket. I always trust the DIS over CMs. Thank you for clarifying it for me.

1. Based on reading literally hundreds of these kind of bits of info, it is unlikely the Phone CM was trying to make sales.
Much more likely that the CM was trying to "make up an answer" for which the CM had no training or knowledge.

2. Good plan.

So you can use your WP&M ticket for mini-golf? It only says the water parks, oak trail, and WWOS on the website.
