Hi. We're planning a WDW vacation next summer. My family has a DVC membership at Saratoga, and we are hoping to use the points for a stay at the Polynesian.

I'm confused because the DVC book we have (dated 2014) lists points as in the 40s or 50s per night, even in the cheaper seasons. However, point charts online, and in the DVC portal itself, list 21 points for the nights we want to go.

Why is this? Why does our book have such a high point total, but the website doesn't? I just want to make sure I'm not missing something important.

Your not. I'm not sure why either, perhaps you are looking at the bungalow points or an example 2-3 night stay? Either way the point totals you see online sound more accurate and are what you will book at.

In 2014, Poly wasn't part of DVC and to stay on points was part of the concierge collection, which is normally much higher, pointwise.

Look in your 2014 book and you'll notice it's in the concierge collection.

Now (since Spring, 2015) it's a DVC resort. That's the difference.

Make sure to book on line right at 8am eastern. Those units go fast.

I thought maybe the huge difference had something to do with the DVC upgrade but I couldn't find any concrete announcement of it. Thanks. I feel better now.

We're going next August because of our work schedules. We're going to book it in Saratoga Spring at the 11 month window to be on the safe side. Last August (2015), we got a pool view room at Boardwalk at the 7month window, so if we're not lucky enough to grab the Polynesian, hopefully we can do Boardwalk again. It will be the 3rd week of August, so room availability and crowds won't be too bad.

Total points for a resort can not change. If they increase points for some rooms, they have to reduce them for others.
