Question re: gratuity with parties of 6 or more.

We will be a party of three myself, dh and dd 8 on the dining plan. We just found out some of our friends are going the same week we are and we were thinking of booking some dining together. They are also a party of three two adults and one child on the dining plan. How will this work with the automatic gratuity? Ours meals will have to be taken from our plan and theirs from theirs. Will they charge each of us 18% of the entire tables meals for our gratuity or 18% of just our three meals, or will they just do one gratuity and we can split it between us? I know I am probably making this more difficult than it is.

Disney is pretty good about accommodating people..I would ask if you could have 2 checks. Just explain to them that even though you are sitting together you are two separate parties..it can not hurt to ask...
