Stewart Airport is just west of Newburgh NY in Orange County, it's not the same as Westchester Airport.
That is what I THOUGHT and my co-worker said they are the same. SIlly me for believing him!

White Plains is a tiny commuter airport north of the city and certainly not worth the extra driving.

Fly into Newark and take NJ transit into the city. It lets you off at penn station (34th and 7th) and it takes about 20 minutes. Can't beat the convenience.
Westchester! We fly from here whenever possible. It's a small airport (only 4 gates). We probably average 10 minutes getting off the plane, getting our bags, then leaving.

Westchester (Stewart) is a small airport. I don't know much about it.
Stewart airport basically only takes small corporate jets. I've picked my fiance up there once... it's basically the equivalent of going to Teterboro airport... that is extremely rare.
Land in Newark, take the path train to Penn Station, and take a cab/subway to where your hotel is.

Yes, certainly, bigger is always better, and all "commuter" airports have direct flights to places like Chicago and Atlanta.
