Hi Guys-

I was reading on one of the other DIS boards, Resorts I think, that you could fax in specifics of room preferences to your resort up to 5 days before you come down, and that this sometimes helps your chances of getting your requests. Now there are side issues, like the resorts had made a statement that they wouldn't be taking faxes anymore; apparently it's been established that they still are, but my question is THIS:

Does this even apply to DVC resorts, or is this just the regular Disney resorts that do this. Have any of you had any successes/failures with doing this at BW?

Thanks!!

Several have reported success with the fax "trick", but the official word from DVC is that requests will be honored in the order they are received by MS. If you make a request at 11 months it should hold more importance than one made 5 days before.

Whether the resort overrides the MS requests is another issue.

We have usually gotten our requests, which we make at the time of the reservation.

Good Luck!

I can answer your question but not as a DVC member, YET!!!!

Last September we stayed at the Boardwalk and after we made reservations I called and made a BW view request and smoking room request. Also 5 days before we went to WDW I faxed the same requests to them along with mentioning that it was our Honeymoon...
When we got there, we where upgraded from standard room to a concierge room overlloking the boardwalk (4th floor above Spoodles). All our requests where met and some! However this also might not be a good example because it was our honeymoon and Disney goes out of their way for honeymooners.
But I figured I would post any way.

Sounds like you were staying at the BW Inn. In actuality that is a totally seperate hotel with seperate Operating Guidelines because it is run by WDW and not DVC. Have you ever noticed, you can get a late check out on the inn but not on the villa. In my experienc as a DVC Member I have found that the Villa's are more rigid with the 11 month window as well as with requests and hardly ever upgrades members because of our contracts. However, I too have booked what I thought was to be far enough out and did not get my exact requests. My belief is that if I don't get the view I want, oh well. I have bigger worries in my life, I'm on vacation and not suppose to stress out. But, again I too have called the resort directly and usually get the same old we have your request and we will do our best... :bounce:
