Here is the scenario. My buddy is meeting me in Reno in April using NWA/Delta miles. He is flying MSP-SEA-SMF (SACRAMENTO). His return flight out of SMF was moved from a 10am departure to a 7am departure. He has told me that they won't change his flight without charging him a $100 change fee AND more miles. Most airlines work with you when THEY change the flight making it unacceptable to the passenger, BUT, I don't have experience when the flight is booked using miles.

Has anyone had success changing a Delta flight that they booked using miles and then had it changed by the airline by that many hours? He would love to get put on a later flight. I told him I would ask over here.

Thanks.

I would have them call again. It may be more complicated because he is trying to fly on miles. They don't make it easy when you are using miles. Has he looked at the freq. flyer portion of their website to check availability for a new flight?

We paid cash for our Delta/NWA, April 10, WDW flight to Florida back in May. :surfweb:
Last weekend during the East Coast storm, Delta/NWA changed our WDW April flight from Boston to Florida from a non-stop to a stop over in Atlanta on the return flight to Boston. :confused3
Normally the 1 stop wouldn't bother me but the additional 2 hours tacked on the flight had us arriving in Boston at midnight.
It took me all day to get through to a Delta agent on the phone because of all the storm cancellations; but when I got through to an agent it took less than 5 minutes to change the flight. :surfweb:
I had no trouble changing our flight home to an earlier non-stop flight with no song and dance and at no extra charge. :cool1:
I received an email confirming the flight change immediately after the call.
Good luck all,
Joe

I flew earlier this month with Delta on a skymiles ticket. I was able to change my flights twice due to schedule changes. Now in my case, both times the connection times were impossible. The first time my first flight arrived at the same time the second flight was leaving and the second time there was only about a 5 minute connection time. They changed it with no problem to flights I preferred.

I've got to agree with SafetyMom - call back. With that large a change in schedule they should work with your friend.

Be sure to let us know how this turns out.
