I haven't had the need to call home from Nassau or Freeport but I was wondering how the process works. In talking to MCI, I was told that MCI and some others have been denied access as the local companies are selling their own services.

What is the best way to call the US from these ports and how much per minute?

Thanks.

My son wanted to call his girlfriend from St. Thomas so he purchased a calling card (before leaving home) and he got through just fine-not sure if the is a connection fee deducted from the card but it was 7 cents a minute-

We had bought a calling card, and before the trip we called the service number to get the special number to use when calling from from Nassau. We got off the ship and tried the phones right at the dock. We couldnt get through, it couldnt connect. Then we went into town to try other phones, thinking it may have been a phone problem. We tried a few different kinds, even the ones that say "Call USA" or something like that. Nothing would work with our calling card. After over an hour, we finally gave up and went back to the ship and sent an email.

My son had no problem-it was a Sprint calling card--he dialed the 800 # on the card and proceded--I just verified this with him-I have never attempted to call out from there-so I don't know

I called home from St. Thomas using the 1800CALLATT number and got right through. It cost $9.00 for about 10 minutes. My sister in law used a local operator and her call was $40.00 for 10 minutes. Anita PS If you buy a calling card make sure it is an international one.
