Question re booking second round of fast passes

I have little kids and there isn't a lot for them to do at Hollywood Studios, but my daughter really wants to ride Toy Story Midway Mania. I would ideally like to book a TSMM fast pass and maybe one other (probably Frozen Sing Along) for early in the morning and, once we use those, book Epcot fast passes for that evening (we have dinner in Epcot and plan to see the show). (We are staying at the Boardwalk and would head back for nap and pool time in between).

Questions:

1. If I only get one morning HS fast pass, wilI I be able to book Epcot fast passes right after I use it or will I need to book and use 3 HS FPs (or wait until 3 expire)?

2. Do you have to be physically in Epcot to book day of Epcot fast passes?

3. We will be there on December 21st, so super busy. Will all the fast passes (even for things like Crush and Nemo) be gone by morning day of anyway?

1. Yes, just make one FP, use it, then start looking to add 2 Epcot FP's.

3. Refresh a bit if needed to find more options. If you are starting to look right after tapping your HS FP there should be plenty of options.

Maybe TSMM wouldn't have a long standby, if you go fairly early? The dynamics may have changed because of Slinky Dog. That way you could just book ahead all your FPs for Epcot.

I’d probably book my fast passes at Epcot and rope drop TSMM and Frozen singalong.

I wouldn't even make fastpasses at HS. You should be able to rope drop TSM with a minimal wait and Frozen shouldn't be an issue either, the theater is large. And you will be able to get fastpasses for non headliner things fairly easily and even sometimes headliners with a little refreshing at that time of year, based on our experience at that time last year.

It’s not totally clear from your post — you realize you can’t book another whole “set” of FP after using those you book in advance, right?

If you book 1 FP at DHS in advance, you can book 2 in Epcot (any tier) as soon as you scan in for your DHS one.

If you book 2 FPs at DHS in advance, you can book 1 in Epcot (any tier) as soon as you scan in for your first one at DHS.

If you book 3 FPs in DHS in advance, you can book 1 in Epcot (any tier) as soon as you scan in for your third one in DHS.

I agree with the others. Book your FPs in Epcot, and rope drop TSMM. Frozen show never needs a FP.

I understand people suggesting simply making 3 at Epcot but I disagree. Using the first FP for a Tier 1 at HS will count as one of the first 3 being used so will allow additional tier 1's at Epcot sooner. It means they can use 2 of their first 3 FP's for tier 1's and that only one Tier 2 at Epcot will need to be used before adding more Tier 1.

1. You can pre book 1 or 2 at HS and as soon as you tap in for the first one you can get on the MDE app to see what you can find at EPCOT.

2. No you don't have to be in the park yet. Like I said in 1 you just go on the MDE app.

3. I doubt things like Crush and Nemo will be gone.

And I just want to make it clear that you can only book one more at a time after the first 3.

Only things at Epcot you will have trouble with (even on a busy day) are Frozen Ever After, Soarin and Test Track (All Tier 1) - later in the day Living with the Land and Spaceship Earth may become scarce

If you only want to do TSMM and the frozen sing along, I would agree to make all your FPs at EPCOT.
If you RD HS, or close to it, most people will be headed to SWGE (if RoTR is open, huge crowd headed there) and tmost of the rest of the crowd headed to SDD, you should have no trouble getting on TSMM once or twice.
Frozen sing along holds a lot of people and rarely needs a FP. Just be sure to get in line about 20-30 minutes before showtime depending on crowds.
