Question re AKL

I booked a standard room at AKL. It will be me, my husband, and twin 6-month old baby girls. Should I request a certain room location? I've never stayed there and am not familiar with the layout. Am I crazy to book just a standard room -- will it be too small for us? I admit to looking for ways to save $ and I got the AP rate of $109/night. We're going November 16. I would love to hear any comments or suggestions.....thanks!

The standard room is the same size as the pool view and Savannah view rooms and will be fine. Only the Deluxe rooms are bigger and only by 3 feet. Many people have been upgraded from a standard view to a pool view room and some even to savannah view. As far as which area to ask for in the standard area. I would ask to be situated away from the bus stop as they pull up fairly close to those rooms.

The standard rooms are only slightly smaller than the deluxe rooms, nothing you would notice at all!

I think you did great for your 109.00 rate and hopefully will be upgraded to a better view such as pool or savanna.

If I were you I would request, "Best View possible" and keep your fingers crossed.

Should you be assigned a standard view room, don't worry there are many areas to view the animals and your room is identical.

We stayed at AKL 2 weeks ago and had a standard $109 room ressie. 4 days before we left, I faxed my room requests and asked for a possible complimentary upgrade to savanah close to the lobby. We got Kudu Trail I think (the back left trail) 3 doors in from the lobby savanah view. It was a FABULOUS room, quite quiet considering it's location and close to the lobby which made it easy to get to the elevators downstairs and to the buses.
