Question Re: AKL Food Tour?

Is there some kind of tour of the restaurants or African food at AKL? I have heard of this but wanted more details if possible since we are staying there in April. Thanks

There was a thread about this not to long ago. You could do a search for more details.
Yes, there is a tour of Jiko & Boma. I believe the poster said that it was late afternoon - 3:45pm. There is a board in AKL lobby with these things posted on it.

This is not first hand knowledge on my part, I am going by memory of that thread, which I paid attention to as we are also staying at AKL in April & very interested in the tours.

I highly recommend this tour! It starts in the afternoon, around 4pm, and we met at the indoor firepit. There were about 8 people on my tour which was a managable amount. I'm not sure if they limit the number of participants so it would be a good idea to get to the meeting spot early. Our first stop was in the lounge/bar where our guide explained a bit about African wines and liquer available at the resort. Our next stop was Jiko and we sat at the fire pit and one of the chefs talked about the spices used and the dishes at Jiko. We were able to taste a couple of different apetizers and ask the chef questions. I could have sat and talked to the chef all afternoon and in fact I was the last one out of the restaurant. We then headed over to Boma for an introduction to their pods, thats what they call the food stations. Another chef came out an we were able to try a few dishes and a dessert. After the tour you could make reservations for either restaurant and I was able to get one for that evening. It was a great tour although I would have liked a little more time to talk with the chefs.
