hey guys don't know where the best place to post thi is I have a quick question there is a company that just got started n my town .. they are Disney princess preforming at parties... they do not have permission from Disney to do this...how do I report them to Disney???, I just think its fraud and wrong... I approached the owner and they said that thy are just a small company and they will deal with Disney when they have to......who can I call about this

We have a ton of those too, even people doing it by themselves, a lady I know just had a custom made dress made for her teenage daughter and has been advertising that her daughter can be hired for birthday parties :sad2:
They said the same thing "everyone's doing it, we'll deal with Disney when we have to" :sad2:
A daycare near me got sued for using Disney characters on it's advertisements.
When will people learn that using someone else's characters, logo, etc is theft? :sad2:

Seems like a lot are popping up recently. Brought dd5 to a bday party in April abd there was "Ariel" almost all the kids knew it wasn't her (she walked into the the party fins and all).

I've seen parties with "elsa" coming as well. Dd5 "knows" that they are only at wdw but I told her not to say anything to the other kids because not everyone is as lucky as us to go to wdw

Really, why do you worry about this? :confused3 Yes, it might be fraud- more likely a copyright infringement- but why do you want to "turn them in?" Disney has plenty of lawyers dealing with this on their own, probably with bigger fish to fry than some little tiny birthday party group. I guess I am just curious: Why do you feel the need to report them to Disney?

Here's a little pixiedust: for you- maybe it'll change your mind!

We have one as well, and it's the same middle-aged lady dressing up as each princess. She looks ridiculous.

We have one as well. Two highschool girls dressing up as Anna and Elsa. They advertise it as the Snow Queen and Ice Princess, but there dresses are exact replicas of the movies, they do a Frozen sing-a-long, do Frozen themed games...And in their reviews on the website people say Anna and Elsa. So they're not exactly doing a great job of covering up the copyright infringement.

HAHA!
I was at my neighbors B-day party a few years ago a for her daughter and Ariel showed up and the lady had to be mid 40's. It was the most ridiculous thing I had ever seen.

My neighbor told me she came free with the bounce house. It was a great laugh for all us 40 somethings.

:confused3 I'm really surprised that people know this is happening and admit that it is wrong but they don't think people should report it. :confused3
Maybe you have to be an artist, writer, etc to understand.
This kind of thing hurts businesses, and is an insult/theft to writers and artists.
It's not ok to steal the creative works of others and pass them off as your own.
If someone was stealing my son's music, lyrics, eye and passing it off as their own I would hope someone out there would report it or let me know.
People in the creative world need to protect each other. This kind of thing hurts everyone.

I agree it's copyright infringement, but it's not like Disney provides princesses for parties either. But, if someone feels the need, call Disney and see if they actually are that concerned about a service they don't even provide.

I agree with the op, they are not a busy body they just know it is wrong to make a profit off of someone else's ideas. It is copyright infringement and it is wrong. How would you feel if you wrote a song and sow one else made money off it?

OP, mind your own business.

I don't see how this compares to "stealing an artist idea and passing it as your own". Everybody knows these characters belong to Disney.

And as a PP stated, Disney doesn't even provide this service.

This doesn't hurt Disney at all, and if they have a problem with it, they'll deal with it. I'm sure they know this happens.

You would not believe how many folks who successfully steal Disney images and set up shops on Etsy come crying to the Etsy Forums when their shops are shut down-people don't "get it"

If you are not an artist, musician, etc then maybe you just can't understand. This type of thing personally insults people in the creative community because it is theft of creativity and ideas.

My Wife is a writer among many other things, and she has about 300 pages of information on her website. We are constantly battling plagiarism of her articles. But something like this wouldn't even be a blip on the radar.

I'm a musician, my mom was a fairly well known oil painter so I "get" the issue. But I still don't feel the need to run and tell Disney about the girl down the street that does parties.

And uh... Isn't Disney one of the "original" plagiarizers? Lol. Just kidding everyone!
