Question: portion sizes

At a la carte TS restaurants, are appetizer portions small, as an appetizer is supposed to be, or are they large like most restaurants? I would think a salad would be a small size, and of course there is the standard cup or bowl of soup, but what about other types of appetizers? Are they big enough to share, are they small enough to enjoy on your own (like on cruises...the appetizers are normal single small portions)? Are appetizers generally smaller at signature restaurants? (Sometimes fancy restaurants have small portions).

I am asking just in case there is an appetizer DH and/or I want to try. I would actually prefer a small size.

It depends. I would say normally yes, signature restaurants have smaller appetizers. If there's something specific you're wondering about, I would ask here or your server at the restaurant as to whether it can be shared.

I often order a salad and then an appetizer as my entree. I do this because the appetizer is smaller and I find most entrees too big for my appetite. So, to answer your question, at most TS restaurants I have found the appetizer to be smallish but more than just a few bites.

By looking at the pictures on disboards...I cam to the conclusion that the appetizers at the signature restaurants are small and for one person. But going to someplace like sci-fi or 50's primetime they are larger and enough for two people.

The food portions at the signature TS restaurants are small (Hollywood Brown Derby, California Grill from what I remember). So basically, the more you're paying, the less food you get! . Makes a lot of sense doesn't it? (although I'm sure you're paying for the quality of food you are getting and atmosphere).

The portions at the non-signature TS restaurants are much larger. And cheaper. So this is why we tend to avoid signature restaurants.

Chefs de France is a definite, and Tutto Italia, Narcoossee's, Yachtsman Steakhouse are all possibilities for us.
