Question: Photo Editing

Hi! I'm looking to buy some photo editing software that is fairly simple to use. I really don't need anything too fancy as I'm not that great of a photographer, just something to play around with (like color filters, etc.)

Any recommendations? (I have a PC, not a Mac)

Why not check out Corel Paint Shop Pro Photo X2? It's about $70 but you can try the free trial. I use Photoshop CS3 and have been a Photoshop LOVER for years, but I would recommend Photo X2 to anyone looking for a nice photo program that is easy to use. Check out the 30 day trial and if you like it, I think you can get it for a discounted price for Corel if you follow the link. I didn't buy it since I didn't need it, but I think I ended with an offer of $49.99 from Corel.

ETA: I'm not a great photographer either,lol. I just love both of these programs. I actually do graphics and screen printing and used to do some web design, but just got in to photography and the reason I say I like X2 is because the interface is very similar to Photoshop's.

go to adobe and try the free trial for photoshop elements as well. imo elements was easier to understand than paint shop but you won't know till you try them both. i downloaded both free trials and used them for the 30 days then got elements...recently i bought painter x (think it's corel paint shop's big brother) and it's somewhat similar to photoshop( ie different terms for the same thing, ie actions=ps scripts=painter x ) yet different enough to give me a headache but much cheaper than photoshop and the two combined ( elements 5 and painter x) give me pretty much everything and then some in the "big" non elements photoshop for under $200

I use Creative Memories Memory Manager and you don't need a PHD to understand it.

I personally prefer corel paint shop pro photo X2 ultimate

Personally we use GIMP, it offers many of the same features/functions as Photoshop but is open source.

A fun one to use that's freeware is Photoscape. It's a basic photo editor but has some fun filters you can use... check it out!

I bought PSE prior to Christmas and am having a really rough time figuring it out. I bout the Missing Manual but haven't gotten too deep into it yet. Flickr has a free one on their website that has gotten me some quick and VERY easy results.
